I like it!!!

The weather forecast is now looking rather unpleasant for PA on Friday night/Saturday , so I'm going to wait and decide at just about the last minute whether to make the trip.

My weather has changed as well. I'm still going for it. My rule of thumb is 30% rain 1/4 inch of rain. This is where the numbers lie(lay?) your numbers are similar. Go with your plan. Might gets a little wet but nothing too serious, trust me
unfortunately I had to remove my fenders to fit the cross tires. Let the mud fly

I am packed and ready to go. Going to leave midday. Even bought a little Irish Whiskey. W.Va ain't as strict as Pa folks.

Yep, I agree, 30% or less, I disregard. As of noon, the forecasts for Saturday (my hanging-out day) were 60% for day-long rain -- not deadly, but not any fun, either. Just checked again. Still calling for thunderstorms Friday night, but the wild card is when they'll hit, and Weather Channel and Accuweather disagree. If I can be at camp and all set up before the deluge arrives, I'll probably go for it. Both sites now say just some a.m. showers for Saturday (Accuweather has the more optimistic forecast), then clearing up.

I'll check once more in the morning, and make a *really* last-minute decision!

NR, got your last PM -- no worries. Even without the potential weather issues, that was quite a few last-minute logistics we were trying to sort out! Next time . . .

You're young. You'll have plenty of time for adventures.

How's the pursuit of racing going?

Hi, Scorch. Welcome to the thread. Check out the Baltimore Bicycling Club's (BBC) schedule for rides that may fit your abilities: https://www.baltobikeclub.org

Select the [Rides and Events] menu item and scan the appropriate schedule.

Looks like your good today. I on the other hand will more than likely get hammered this afternoon. Forecast for thundershowers is up to 50-60%. The next 4 days look great though(silver lining) The highs will be 70
Hope all goes well Max
Everyone ride safe this wknd.

Change in plans . . . woke up much later than I wanted to this morning, with a pounding headache (which in itself is not a good weather sign -- my head is often, unfortunately, a quite handy barometer. ) I'm feeling better now, but the local forecasts for Lewisberry are still split on when the thunderstorms will arrive this afternoon/evening, and how severe they might be (some mention the possibility of hail, damaging winds, and cloud-to-ground lightning.)

I debated riding up partway and finding a B&B before the poop hits the fan, but now I think I'm just going to go spin around the airport a few times (I've never ridden the bike even around the block fully loaded) and then (in about as much law-breaking as I'm inclined to do -- I would *never* sneak beer into the state park ) hit the NCR Trail at about 4:00 a.m. tomorrow, hoping to get to the park by around 9:30 or 10:00.

Keeping myfingers crossed for a good day for you, Charlie!

well i raced in the hagerstown crit like 2 weeks ago, little did i know that it was the Mabra championships.

I kept up for about 4 - 5 laps, and then got dropped. They said since it was championship rules I had to pull off the track becasue I wasnt in contention. Oh well, I loved it and I had a great time. Pace was def a wake up call tho Im just excited to get serious about it next season. so on paper i 'dnf' but i had a personal victory, and someone commented that I hung in quite well for my first race.

so it was definitely worth it, thanks for asking

Your route looks ok, but be prepared to be beeped at on Rt 50. Not many ride on 50, so motor vehicle operators are surprised to see a bike on Rt 50 even though it's legal from Queenstown to Ocean City.

Today's ride--it was an out and back, so double the distance, since this is only the "back" portion:

Chesapeake City Park and Ride to Overton Island National Wildlife Refuge south of Rock Hall.

Barry, Not sure if you'll read this or not - but where is the bike parking at ARTSCAPE - we will be heading down around noon today - once we get to Lake and Roland its pretty much bike lanes the whole way.

I didn't get down to Artscape till 6PM today, and was sort of burnt out from Friday so I didn't do a whole lot other then answer technical questions about routes and safe cycling in the city but it was fun hanging out and seeing cyclists in the city. We counted 120 bikes in the parking area but we had people coming and going all day not to mention people did park their bike in other areas besides the bike parking:

Would love to join you on a ride. I live pretty close. I rode with a few guys at the REI once, but they were much better than me. Trying to find some people that will help me get better, tired of being a boat anchor. I do see a group of 40 riders on beach drive once in a while, but they are literally going 30mph.

Hi, all, just a quick note to let you know I did indeed survive my first loaded mini-tour. (Although this morning, as I started my usual "walk up the moving escalator" thing at work, my legs looked up at me and said "What is WRONG with you**********" )

Details and photos soon.
