Thanks, Barry. I entered it into my phone.

Thanks everyone for a really enjoyable ride today. Great company; a really fun group to be around.

Hey Barry,
Sorry I missed your ride. I guess our ride on the B&A last Monday will be our farewell ride, though I have a feeling I will be riding with you again soon.

Pics?

Thanks, everyone, for being so patient with me today! Unfortunately, I've added a few more aches and pains . . . I crashed on the way home, hard enough to bust my helmet almost all the way through in two spots.

I was on those roads behind the football stadium, with all the criss-crossing old trolley tracks. I was moving across them, and I took my eye off them for a second, and one section of track ended up being briefly parallel to my travel path. My front wheel got trapped in the track, and a millisecond later I was on my side, my helmet bouncing along the asphalt.

I've got some road rash and what will be some technicolor bruising on my left hip and the outside of my left knee, my hands are a bit chewed up, and my left wrist is pretty sore (as is the spot on my left shoulder that I think was the first part of me to hit the asphalt.) The bike was fine, except for the right brake hood having gotten shoved over toward the stem a bit. I shoved it back, and rode home without incident.

I have a feeling I'm gonna be pretty sore tomorrow, though . . .

I just got my pictures off my camera and onto my computer. I'll try to get them up here.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ OMG, Maxine!

That stinks! Injury on top of injury--the worst!

I was feeling a little reluctant about not escorting you at least part of the way out of the city when you made your turn at Maryland. Hindsight--I should've gone with you.

Excellent ride and company.
Bummer Max, I hate those tracks down there. Helmet damaged that's serious. Sorry to hear this.
Barry, your rear hanger broke? bent? fell off? What does that have to do with the extracycle?? Is the hanger the part holding the extracycle to the frame? Or the RD hanger?

Anne Arundel County here. Anyone hear about a mountain bike trail being worked on near crownsville? I heard rumors from my LBS but they offered no specifics.

Greatings.

Many of the current denizens of this thread are roadies.

You may want to contact the Severna Park Peloton ( https://www.severnaparkpeloton.org ) about whether or not they've heard anything. Also, Bike Doctor down in that area may know something.

Hey folks:
@rmanla: try this site https://www.more-mtb.org/forum/
It's the MD/NOVA mnt biking forum. Someone there should know
There's also a guy on the BBC site that knows a lot of the local mnt biking scene. His sig is revdesign(or something like that). Here's the link
https://www.baltobikeclub.org/index.p...gora&Itemid=64

Sunday ride
Remember that song I was talking about: Here's the singer and title:
Willie Nile
Cell Phones Ringing (in the Pocket of the Dead)
It's worth a listen, kinda catchy sound

@GB: do post your cue for the May,2 Monument to monument ride. I hope to ride it and want to BLOW UP the size of script so I won't need my glasses. I'm bringing a road map as well so when(not if) I get dropped I can make my way back home;-)
did you find your lock?

No worries, NR -- that spill could have happened anywhere, anytime, and was my own dumb fault for taking my eyes off the tracks while I was crossing them.

Oddly, my hamstring feels much better today. I think the cycling must have helped. The falling down part, yeah, that I gotta work on . . .

He probably didn't have time since he's pre-riding a new route, today, that takes us up to Havre de Grace starting from Canton Park on Boston St.

I virtually pre-rode it using Google Earth! I'm not spillin' the beans about it any more than that.

All right, sorry, but I am *so* throwing in the towel on trying to get my pictures from Barry's "Farewell to Baltimore Ride" to post directly on this page . . . I'm dying of old age, here, so . . . MOVING ON . . . I'll try to get a link to the Photobucket page to work properly.

I will send you a cue sheet. Sorry the text is too small, but for some rides (Mon. to mon. included) there are so many cues that the sheet gets really long. Currently, Monument to monument is 4 pages.

And you won't get dropped on this one. There may be many Velocipede riders coming too. Good time.

Yes, I found the lock back at *bucks.

Worked great. Love the shot of Barry and Charlie in the woods. and the group shot at the Dizz... quite an attractive bunch.
I'm so sorry to hear about your fall, Max. I sure hope you heal quickly.

Big riding weekend for me. Sunday: probably 50 miles (after a to/from starbucks ride) and monday: a Rando ramble check out ride up to Havre de Grace for 110 miles. (super great route, BTW) Good stuff.

The RD was attached to the xtracycle that bit broke, so the xtracycle frame is toast.

Max nice pictures. Nice mountain bike pictures and Ouch shirt. It was meant for your thigh but you could have used it for your return trip as well. You really busted up your helmet. I didn't see that Naty Boh/Utz girl billboard. If you look closely you can see NRs dinotte. Bob next to him rode with 2 rear super flashes but can't see them. I'm on the other side of the road with superflash and cateye 1000. Can't see them either. Hmmmm, is it time to buy a rear dinotte......
GB I won't print out the entire ride in LARGE print. I am familiar with a lot of the ride, only a few sections I am unfamiliar will get a full blow up. Glad to see you got the lock. I don't mind getting dropped, I'm getting pretty good at it actually;-) I'm going to bring a rode map.

FWIW They had a cyclocross event down there last year, maybe they are going to set up something more permanent?

Hmmmm... that fits with my feelings about non-replaceable rear derailleur hangers. I won't buy a frame like that. Almost didn't buy the Ridley, because I thought it had a non-replaceable hanger.

I broke two of them on the Giant TCR.

I think it may be fixable. I believe the extracycle is aluminum. true? If so, I doubt Balt Bike Works can weld it. alum. welding is very specialized, BUT I suspect it would be not too hard to find a welder who could put a RD tab on there.

Yeah, it's toast. Which is annoying because I am *really* fussy about helmets and hate having to shop for a new one. I'm going to Race Pace in Columbia after work tonight, hopefully I'll find something there. (I have an "emergency spare," but I don't like it enough to make it my new primary helmet.)
