After the Loch Raven ride, I drove to Oregon Ridge Park. From there, I did a solo ride to Hampstead.

I pulled off another century today. Not the most demanding century, but a nice ride on a great day. My final time was 8.66 hrs with an average speed of 11.5 mph -- not very impressive, but not bad for my second century.
If anyone from the DC area is interested I went down the Capital Crescent Trail to the C & O and then rode out to Edwards Ferry Rd. I took Edwards Ferry Rd up to Poolesville and then did a loop around Poolesville. (Its the Western Montgomery loop on bikewashington.org if you want the details.) And then finished off with a long haul back down the C & O to the CCT and home. Since I missed a turn I had to make up a few miles on the C & O and I think I wound up doing more hill climbing than the original route. I wasn't sure I'd make it, but I ultimately was able to ride up every hill. I guess I will have to ride it again in the future (the right way) to see how the two routes stack up. I think I may have also made a mistake of taking on a century on a brand new saddle. I didn't have a choice since my old saddle broke on Thursday night, but it did make a sore bottom on those final 30 miles..

So some time in the future when you ride within 5-10 miles of my house you gotta warn me. You can stop by for lunch at least, or I can pick up the ride somewhere along the way and practice hanging on your wheel until my heart explodes

The ride was done on impulse. I didn't think I could 'scare up' anyone else for the ride on such short notice.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. The ride out on the C & O and around Poolesville was really nice and was a great sale pitch for biking. The ride back on the C & O was not that exciting -- too many stupid peds and other obstacles as well as too many miles of bumpy gravel. I'm already looking at some future routes that I think I can handle. Hopefully I'll be able to make a little progress each ride.

I have been wanting to post all weekend since Saturday. but one thing or the other has kept me from it. I did the Fenwick / Bethany Ocean to Bay ride on Saturday and had a great time. It was a nice flat ride with nice scenary along the way. I only missed two turns on the que sheet but did good otherwise. I wound up doing a little over 50 miles in 3.5 hours witb two breaks in there.

Nothing momentous, but I was really pleased to have a good, though short ride yesterday. I'm especially pleased with my self for riding up Park Heights Ave. from Garison Forest to Walnut Ave, without any real difficulty (Though I was absolutely cooked when done.) Good to get up an intimidating hill, for a newb.

Great ride with 12 cyclists. We had a 10-15 mph headwind up to Hampstead, especially a slog on the climb up St Paul to Houcksville. Too bad Simmons Ice Cream wasn't open at Cascade Lake. Very fast on Maple Grove and Brick Store. Got back with overall of 17. Counting commute from Towson for 62 miles.

Weather looks good for a heavy Wednesday Night Ride turnout at Oregon Ridge Park in north Baltimore County. Ride leaves promptly at 6 PM (don't be unloading bike or suiting up at 6.....)for 31 miles of high-velocity fun! Front of the pack will average 22+ MPH but there is always someone to ride with and cutting the course is permitted! Short cuts are going strait @ Yeoho and taking left at Lower Glencoe (instead of right to Upper Glencoe), then right on York and left on Belfast. Loop is clockwise.

22 mph would leave me in the dust fast, plus had family commitments. Now it's Thursday, and the weather is back to depressing. Only good thing about not riding tonight is I really have to do some work.

START: SHS - Southern High School
Ride to Deale--Southern Anne Arundel County Tandem * 42/33* Joint WABITS/CRABS ride to Deale with lunch at a restaurant in Deale on the water. A nice ride with some pretty overlook views of the water on the longer route. The ride has some hills, but is not too difficult. The ride back after lunch is the same for both rides and is about 10 miles. The ride leaders will be doing the 42 mile ride. Call ride leaders if weather is doubtful.

START: DOA - Dixon Observation Area (BWI)
A gentle loop around the airport on the BWI trail. Bring a drink and a snack.

START: CRN - Cranberry Square Shopping Center
Bachman Valley Ride w/lunch at Pizza Hut Bistro after ride.
13/15 MPH - 9:30 am - 41 miles +/-
START: EHR - Earleigh Heights Ranger Station - Directions: I-695 to Exit 2 - Rt. 10 South. Go approx. 7 mi. to end, then Left on Rt. 2 South. Go 1 mile to 2nd traffic light then Right on Earleigh Heights Rd. Go 0.2 mi. to the B&A Trail Ranger Station on left. Parking lots are on both sides of the road.
"Circle the Scenic Severn". Catch a glimpse of the waterfront before the leaves come out and enjoy the 50-cent tour of Annapolis; lunch at the Annapolis City Dock. Anyone who thinks A.A. Co. is flat hasn't done this ride! The hilliest part is between miles 6 and 10; the rest is easier, including many flat sections, but with an occasional "surprise" hill. And, oh yeah, on the way back you get to pedal up what has to be the steepest hill in the county (steep, but short!), so bring your "granny gear"! (Please note new start location.)

START: MTV - Mt. View Middle School
Ride to Point of Rocks. Rolling first half; moderately hilly second half. Pizza or convenience store lunch, plus a couple other rest stops.
18 MPH - 10 am - 65 miles
START: Rowlandsville Elem. School - RT 1 North over Conowingo Bridge. Go 1.0 mile then Right on Rowlandsville Rd. Right into school.
Strasburg Ride, Moderately hilly. The ride is in my top 10 for favorites. Could be number 1! Lunch at Strasburg - If we are lucky & it’s warm, can eat in back of restaurant!
