Nice! I saw many of these on Facebook, but some like the balcony shots are new to me.

I be in Bethany Beach for a few days. Any rides closer than Newark, De? that is two hours from me. Perhaps I'll check the maryland clubs. Willing to commute up to an hour If its a good ride.

greaterbrown 11-14-11 08:09 AM

Nick, enjoy your eastern shore stay. Not sure of what ride lengths you're interested in or whether you're asking for routes to ride or people to ride with. There are so many small safe roads on the eastern shore that you could probably whip something up on googlemaps by just picking the little roads. Alternatively, I rode these two a couple years back which you could alter to begin in Bethany.

Hello gang. I'm a part-time newbie to the Maryland cycling scene. Our son attends school in Emitsburg and I've been taking my road bike along on visits, riding the surrounding areas of MD and PA. I'd love hearing from some local cyclist that can offer up some suggestions for cycling the beautiful countrysides of Maryland.

Advanced thanks for the input.

There's lots of stories right here in this thread--many reports; good and bad, alike, reported here.

rode with shore velocity, nice group, let me hang on with my rental bike and street shoes and clothes LOL. Easily the fastest and longest I ever rode as a "civilian".

I'm going to make it to the Ramble this Sunday!

greaterbrown 12-02-11 11:19 PM

Hot Damn! Are you riding up to Carroll Park or meeting us along the way?

maxine 12-03-11 07:54 AM

GB, what's your ETA to Fado? I'm thinking of riding down there via a more direct route and meeting up with you all for lunch . . . and Guinness :thumb: . . . and then using your route on the return trip (since you'll be riding almost right past my door!)

greaterbrown 12-03-11 10:05 AM

Oh spit, Max is chasing us down too. And, Charlie is saying he's coming, an all-star cast.
Judging our arrival @ Fado will be rough, but I'd guess 12noon. Hell, if worst comes to worst, you can just start drinking with out us.

You would probably make good time using the M2M route down there since Good Craic attempts to avoid most of that route.

vengeful_lemon 12-03-11 05:04 PM

riding up to Carroll park! Will we get to see Isaaias as well?

It's getting harder to pry myself out of bed as the temperature drops...

greaterbrown 12-03-11 05:14 PM

Isaias sez he good to go. See ya in the AM.

NoRacer 12-05-11 08:45 AM

Damn! I missed these last few posts! I wish there was a way to subscribe to a specific thread using RSS in Google Reader.

I guess I'll have to turn on email notification instead.

vengeful_lemon 12-05-11 09:59 PM

Thanks for organizing, Bob, and for showing up, everyone.

Yes, Alec, I was doing Twitter long before Facebook. I have lots of "groups" that apparently others like. I haven't been putting too much energy into Twitter since Facebook, but it seems to be sustaining itself at the current "follow" level.

greaterbrown 12-06-11 01:16 PM

Alec. Glad you rode with us and didn't fall asleep at the pub. did you ride back up into Brooklyn or peel off earlier?
Great riding with Max also. I liked this return route much better than what we rode last year. However, there were some scary exit overpasses and intersections made far worse by darkness. I'll probably take Dave's advice and schedule this for a date with more available light.

Welcome to my world. I have those "scary" exits all along Pulaski Hwy on my commute to/from work.

It's true, you are a pro at this stuff. I'm happy to say, that almost all of the riders on this month's ramble were well prepared for the dark return. But there were some I was worried about.

vengeful_lemon 12-07-11 07:20 PM

We diverged from the route at Eastern st, taking Annapolis Rd back to the city. Two guys had no lights, and one guy had just a tail light! I stuck with them to Waterview Ave. and then it sunk in that I was just heading away from a nice warm bed, so I split off and took Hollin's Ferry / Hammond's Ferry road back to BWI and then the trail on home.

But I wasn't going to fall asleep at the pub!

It was a good ride!

Glad to see you on twitter, Isaias. Hope y'all had a good ride.

Does anyone know about a good solution for leaving a bike at BWI? balto charlie mentioned the parking garage in a really old thread...

greaterbrown 12-07-11 10:13 PM

Ride report (sort of) and link to pics from the ride:
http://randoramble.posterous.com/13-riders-rambling

Alec, I'll private message you charlie's email address. you can ask him about BWI directly.
Best.
