I need a new job. I thought I was doing something by being on pace for a 1500 mile year. I guess I'm the slacker here, but I enjoy every mile I put in. I also love spending time with the wife and kids. So when I do get out I love it that much more.

Therein lies the rub. Don't matter how many you do as long as you enjoy 'em.

... or, at least most of them.

You're right, it's not about miles, it's about quality and being on the bike, the miles are secondary. My kids have no interest in biking with me anymore, and so I don't feel as guilty about leaving them at home. Looks like a great ride on Skyline, assume those are your boys. That can be a grinding ride.

I hear ya on the house chores. I painted a friggin garage for the last 5 (glorious weather) days. I cranked like a MF, 10 hrs/day. Looks good but I would have preferred riding.
GB: We gotta firm up the beer ride.
branenjs:It's quality, not quantity. You seem to have your priorities right. Kids are only kids for a short time, enjoy them.

Yep, I try to get them out as much as I can.
HC203- Yes, my oldest son(14) is in the red jersey, my younger son(12) was'nt up for the hills so he helped mom with the support truck. That ride can be grueling, we started at Front Royal and went south for about 40 miles. My son actually bonked on the climb after Thornton Gap and had to ride in the truck for awhile. His metabolism is too fast for the size of his stomach..He's a great rider though.

Sounds like a plan, Nov 2nd. Yeah, ride your commuter, GB can ride his fixie, then I won't be so far behind. I think DST might be over by then but not certain. Anyone else want to ride. There will be 4 on tap at my house

It is cool to go as a family. It has gone from keeping my bikes in good order to keeping three others in good order. A small trade off for rolling down the road as a family group. I'm glad my truck can carry a bunch of bikes...

I marked my calendar but I may have a school obligation that day.

GB-You got that fixie together? That means I would need to bring mine, or not.

I'm heading up to SNP this weekend with two of my sons, hiking and camping not biking. We did a few miles of the AT a few weeks back and maybe we'll crank out a few more.

Beer and bikes, two of my favorite things.

Maybe I'll come, that way EVERYONE can feel like Lance in comparison. I'll have to take a closer look at the calendar -- gotta be in Parkville in the early evening (showered and in non-bike clothes), but I might be able to show up late for that.

DST ends on the 2nd; so I guess that's the night you set the clocks back -- or is it 2:00 a.m. (i.e. on the "Saturday night" when you go to bed?)

Speaking of Lance. Check out this clip from the NYT on The Leadville 100, the race that made Lance decide to come back and this awesome dude who whooped him. I would say that Lance let him win, but I don't think that's in Armstrong's dna. 14000 feet of gain over 100 miles in the dirt!!!

In Bethesda here; I frequent the Capital Crescent Trail fairly often (several times per week). I'm usually there in the early evening before dark.

Yay beer, whoops I mean a ride.

Also if people are interested in helping get kids interested in biking we have two events in the city this Saturday that we are in desperate need of volunteers. I'm going to stress this one with this group: http://www.baltimorespokes.org/artic...81010200735635

Besides bicycles as part of a sustainable transportation system I think it would be really cool is we can get some cyclists to cover air quality and water quality as well (yes we have a positive impact on those things as well.) So if your up to help out and talk/inspire some kids email Brett it would be appreciated.

Or if you just want a family bike ride check this out:http://www.baltimorespokes.org/artic...81015111349782

Don't think I'll be ready for the road that soon, but thanks for thinking about me. I plan on getting on the trainer this week; haven't been on a bike in nearly 3 weeks now.

You might be able to twist my arm in to coming over for the beer afterwards though!
