Hey all: I am definitely riding tonights bike party. I will drive to ride start and hopefully hooking up with Bob for a few post ride brews. Probably riding uptown to a different bar though as Pratt Street will be mobbed.

Bike party was huge again. Not certain how many showed. Not as many as last ride(1300) but a lot. I have heard reports of 700+. Not bad for a November night ride. Saw/rode with Peter, Bob, Tom F and my son.

Todays commute was warm!! Not complaining but over dressed. We don't have computer and phones at home now(thanks comcast) so had no clue it was going to be balmy.

I'm glad to see so many other riders in MD are on here. When the weather warms up I'd like to meet up and start riding with others.

Rode the WBA trail Monday and had to walk the last four miles back due to a broken pedal. ...SMH

@ Rayon: Welcome to the group. If you ride westside(Catonsville area) I lead some rides for Catonsville Rail to Trail thoughout the year. PM your email and when I am back on the net at home I'll let you know the next ride. They tend to be easy to moderate. Now if you like harder rides, Bob on this forum leads rides @ 100+miles. They are not fast rides just long. They originate in the city and head to the far away lands

anyone here live in/near catonsville? my wife and i might be moving there from silver spring and was wondering what the cycling community is like. we both are road riders and i commute a few times a week and run errands by bike a lot.

wind was tossing me around like a dog toy this morning. kinda fun, actually.
usually my saturday AM commutes are pretty quiet. today, there were cars buzzing all over the place. last minute xmas shopping?

Probably. I was riding around doing some last minute errands myself. The Avenue was hopping by 10:00 a.m. I had planned to do a longer ride, but the wind was getting to me. I guess I'm a wind wuss.

@aquateen, I lead rides for Catonsville Rails to Trails during the year. PM me and I will put you on the email list. Rides really vary from short slow and easy to longer and faster. None of the rides are real fast. I think 13-15 is the fastest we have ridden. Some of the rides break into a fast group and a slow group.
New Years Day ride happening. Riding to Annapolis, will meet in Balto City or Dixon Observation park @ BWI. time to be announced. Please post if you are interested.

Well damn, this thread is eternal. I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd stop in to say hello. Life has been complicated and busy so I haven't done any riding for a long time. I have moved to Calvert County, work in Linthicum, and have spent a good deal of time and energy assisting the wife get through breast cancer. She is doing good now and is in the clear for almost a year now. I'm now fatter than a tick from sitting on my ass behind a desk for the past couple years.

I'm getting the mountain bike overhauled and planning on dusting of the Giant road bike again. Hoping to drop some weight and get some fitness back in 2013.

Wow, Don a voice from the past. We never did a crab ride in your neck of the woods. Glad to hear your wife is on the mend. You're up in Lithicum, I'm out of Catonsville, let me know if you want to ride after work someday. When the days get longer we can meet near the MARC and do a quick spin around the airport before I head home. I usually get to the station around 530ish.

BTW, I haven't worn a bike coat in years. A vest is my usual upper body covering-- dual arm warmers, leg warmers, wool base "T" and a short sleeve jersey.

I'm tucked away in an office building off West Nursery Rd and Winterson Lane. I plan to take the bike to work a couple days a week and leave from Andover Rd somewhere or from the MARC in Linthicum. I guess really just about anywhere around there. I forgot how much I loved the crab cakes at G&Ms. I like working in that area, just pretty far from Chesapeake Beach. I'm up for a crab ride next summer. Bring all you MD riders to Calvert Co. - There's some great riding around here.

Wore the jacket today. Coldest day this winter. Cold commute this morning but don't have a car right now so no other options. It's actually easier when you have no options.
Crabs sound a long way off but at least the days are getting longer. Picked up 3 minutes on the sunset side of the day. Mornings still not changing.

I know its further but Bike Doctor Waldorf has been awesome for me in the past and they handle a very diverse group of cyclists there. Hands down the best bike shop in Maryland.

They'll measure you, set you up, and have you ride the trainer while they adjust all the parameters - from saddle height to crank length, and more.

Then - they enter your bike and frame size, and because it knows all the manufacturers' frame dimensions, it spits out every setting needed for a perfect fit on your bike ... seat post settings, stem length and angle, bar width, hood positions,, and much more.

I received an email today from Bike Doctor Waldorf, they just installed the same system. Its good to know we have some good places all over to service the bikes.
