Hey folks: My rec biking is at an all time low. Too much non biking ***** getting in the way. i am glad I bike commute or I would be getting zero miles, especially w/ such beautiful weather.
I was around Patterson Park this wknd. Anybody on this forum live around there? I really liked the area. It has made big changes in recent years. City feel w/ out the tourist. Nice homes and great park.

Saturday, I rode the BBC club ride from Carroll Manor Park to Fawn Grove, PA. Great ride (hilly), but I kept falling off the back of the fast group. There were 3 other Team BBC members in the ride and eventually someone would help pace me back up to the group. The pace of the ride for the fast group averaged around 18 MPH. I was slower at a bit over 17 MPH after suffering a flat tire at High Point Rd. Since I rode to the ride start, I had 20 miles more to do after the club ride for a total of 91 miles for the day.
Sunday, I rode the BBC club ride from Mt View to Point of Rocks. Flatter course, but windier that day. There was one other Team BBC member in the ride. We originally agreed to go easy (he was also in the Saturday club ride), but we got enticed to speed by a paceline that finally disintegrated into a fast free-for-all for a group of about 8 of us. After a short rest at the halfway point, 2 guys took off because one had family business to attend to. Next our group--four in all--took off and after a short warm up, proceeded to put the diesel engines back in gear, hammering all the way back to Mt View Middle School. From the halfway point, we wound up raising the average speed, finishing at an average of 18.3 MPH over 84 miles.
My weekend total came to 175 miles.

I ended up riding 40 miles today, before after and during work. Even got some research done. I'm impressed w/ the speeds some of you folks are riding ! Over 18mph for 80 miles is fast. 23 mph!!! My vanagon can barely do that.

I excused myself from work tomorrow, so that I can make a day of it. I'd like to get to the park earlier in the day to recon the race route. Hopefully, I'll be able to ride it if there's nothing else going on at the time.

I think I'll wear my Caisse D'Epargne/Illes Balears cap as my distinguishing goofy attribute so you and any other BF'ers can say hi.

Btw, I'll be the guy in the yellow Team BBC jersey--a little oversized since I borrowed it from another team member.

Way to go in the first one. With the speeds you post here I think i will have to race in a 'Cat Q' or 'R'
