Two good looking ones are "Seven Lakes, Seven Bridges," and "NYC, Perkins, Bedford, Greenwich Loop"

How was YOUR ride???? You did the 300 miler to the catskills!

Slvoid did a solo up 9w and turned back on the last climb before Bear Mt. "It's too windy" (in my best whiny voice).

I went up the back way with Alex... beautiful ride, perfect weather, 135 miles. We were SUPPOSED to take a slow 70 mile ride up, cross the Bear Mountain bridge, and catch the triain back.... but I was bait and switched (again) and got suckered into riding back. 135 miles. But a great day and well worth it.

A nice 10mph tailwind made the ride back down 9w the best one of the year.

Alex got his Bianchi Axis with stupid low climbing gears... delivered last week.

And I ordered my Tricross with gearing almost as stupid... due in this week.

We're all set for 6 Gaps on Sunday, Sept 30th.

Who's coming with us???

My ride kicked ass; the weather gods smiled on us this weekend. Even my headwind, while certainly present, wasn't all that bad.

The ride home was all downhill (the ride there was a slightly different story) and only slightly marred by an exploding rear tire on various occasions.. fscking Pro2's..

Oh, and Vibrasphere kicks ass. I'm not one to usually ride with a speaker in my ear, but their new album put a big-ass grin on my face for quite a portion of the ride. Awesome compliment while tolling through bumble****, NY.

I'm not sure that my gearing is up to par for this 6 gaps thing.. will see in a week or two if I can deal with that.

So what's up with the tires? What happened? How many flats?

I imagine we can get some kind of solution figured out in time. What about your commuter? What gearing is on it? Can it be adapted on the cheap?

Is this 6 gaps thing an organized ride? How is one to get there, car?

Anyway, I did bear mountain solo. I had intended to meet up with Slvoid, but figured I'd sleep another hour, then do Bear Mountain, yet still get home before he would! That was Sat.

Just yesterday I went and jumped on my freshly built up steel Ciocc and took the long way Alex mapped out to head out to my Aunts BBQ. They live out in Rockland county, on Laurel road, one turn right off the route. I never did the mountain climb, but really hammered out there knowing I not only had a free ride home in some motorized transportation, but some tasty ribs, burgers and dogs too!

6 gaps is only as organized as we can make it.... its just whoever we can get together to go.

Definitely a car trip... about a 6 hour drive from the city. The plan is to drive up saturday evening, ride sunday (Sept 30), and drive back sunday night.

Don't know where we're staying. Don't know how many are going. Don't know much yet, other than that we're going to do it on that date.

You might be a little faster but there's no need to lie, you said you got home at like, 5, I was home just before 2pm.

Maybe I was lying over the phone, but I am being completely honest here on the forums.
Also, I actually climbed the mountain, and would have done it twice too. You however didn't climb more than a city curb that day.

Also, I am "a lot" faster.....................

I had 3 flats total. On the way in, while stopping for directions in the last 15 miles or so; was the first time I kinda showed off to someone about my ride. As soon as I walked out of the store, got on my bike, BAM!.

It was a tear right where the sidewall starts. When inflated, the tube would protrude through like a bubble. I stuck a dollar bill in there for the ride home, but it would blow every 40/50 miles (my luck as usual, once was during a ~45mph descent). Tried double-stacking the dollar bill, still blew. Then combined the currency with some electrical tape and it held for the rest of the ride, although there's a noticeable bump there. Will probably need a new tire.

About the commuter, it does have a triple, so it may be of use, but it's heavy and needs new wheels. Maybe if I put the Aksiums on for the ride.

This weekend, with some great orchard scenery: https://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/3824745

Six Gaps: https://www.northeastcycling.com/six_gaps.html

Oh, and I had a blowout as well, inside my apartment. I was putting cheapo 23mm contis onto the bianchi and the rear pinched under the bead. I have never heard anything that loud in my life. Anyone have proper tyre suggestions for Six Gaps?

Did the neighbors call 911? If not, then it wasn't as loud as you think.

The Bianchi and Tricross ain't exactly light... I think around 21lbs each.

Putting the aksiums, a big cassette and a XT derailler on would get the job done.

Or maybe you need a new commuter. I can get you hooked up w/ another tricross.

Oh yeah, my powertap shows a high speed of 67mph for Saturday.

Does that mean I really went that fast?

I gotta remember to load the data file and find out what the bogus data looks like, if it's a single data point, or whole lot of garbage data.

In Brooklyn they don't even raise an eyebrow. We just step over the bodies and keep walking.

WRONG, you must not be a native New Yorker. First we do a watch/wallet check/strip, then step over the body and keep going.

Is it just me or do Slvoid and Jimbo sound more like a married couple every day?

My epic ride of yesterday was my longest ride in over 2 months at 10.67 miles at 14mph. After the ride I iced my leg for almost as long as I rode. I definitely do not recommend this whole getting hit by a car thing.

I think he's getting a little overly excited after finding out he's faster than the other riders in the group.

Six Gaps is moving to 9/16 - that extra 1/2 hour of sunlight might be quite useful.

I'm pretty sure he'd love to sell as many as he can get from Specialized.
