nyc highbridge park/LIRR/Subway
Depending on my motivation in the morning I think I might jump on the LIRR with my bike and head into NYC to checkout the highbridge park MT bike trails. I already have the bike pass for the LIRR, but i was wondering is there access to the subways for bikes. Penn station is at 34th street....the park is at something like 190th. I rather not ride all the way there. I will if I have to I guess, but I would like to save my energy for the real riding.
Anyone have any info on this place.

You can just catch the A Train or the #1 at 33/34 th and get off at Dyckman St. You're supposed to ride towards the rear of the train but nobody's ever made a point of that. Otherwise the subway has pretty much unrestricted bike access, 24/7 no permit required.
If you decide to ride just head west for the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway and ride it all the way to the end.

Oh I almost forgot. When you get on the subway, you can swipe your metro card at the special access gate and wave for the clerk to let you in.
