NYC Route Planner

I heard about this site while listening to the radio:

http://www.ridethecity.com/index.php

It could not map a route from my location out on Long Island (a.k.a."Lawn Guy Land").

I hope others can use this site.

Where on LI are you? North or south? There's a great path between Merrick and Massapequa.

I tried it. I'm off the grid.

So then I clicked South until it popped an address.

The route it produced was nowhere near the safest way to go.

The most direct route wasn't horrible, but it was not the straightest or fastest way either.

It would definitely help someone just starting to commute by bicycle. It would save them a lot of trial and error, at least from my location.

Interesting site, thanks for posting the link.

i like using mapmyrun.com for all my bike rides. it's a google map mash-up, so the maps are good and the implementation well done for the most part.

Interesting site. I really like using maps though and I've found these useful:
