MA: First 20-miler

Earlier this afternoon I rode my first 20+ mile ride.
I went from my house to the Minuteman Bikeway to the end of the Reformatory Branch, which in total goes from Lexington to Bedford to Concord (and maybe Lincoln).
Total was a bit less than 22 miles. I did it in about 2 hours.

I'm not especially proud of this, but I just thought I'd share with the people here in the northeast section since it's still a milestone for me.

Some parts of the Reformatory Branch were quite muddy, but it was still definitely ride-able. The Great Meadows was beautiful. I also stopped by the Concord River and walked across the North Bridge (where the local militia kicked redcoat ass).

The most difficult part oddly would most likely be the part on the Minuteman trail returning home. Very annoying after a while.

If you ride on the Minuteman Bikeway, take a look here (http://www.bedforddepot.org/MinutemanBikeway.html). I haven't been on the Narrow-Gauge Trail yet, but the Reformatory Branch is very nice and puts you almost right in the middle of Concord Center.

Keep up the good work. Before long you'll be posting about your first 50 miler!

wils0nic - Nice milestone and you should be proud! We all have our own milestones. If you want a nice paved trail for a road bike, or anybike, really, try the Cape Cod Rail Trail. The whole thing is a little longer but you don't have to do the whole thing. I did it yesterday and was very pleased with the quality of the path. Very few dips or cracks, and certainly no dirt or mud.

I've been thinking of trying more trails in Lexington. Where's a good place to park a car?

Parking around the Lexington Green is free, but there are meters in lots all around the center for 2/4 hours.
