DC/VA/MD Group Rides

Wondering if we could try to get a good & pretty complete list of group rides in the DC area. I've been riding on my own for a long time, and ready to get into some group rides to improve, and to make riding a bit more interesting. I'm in no way a racer, but wouldn't mind getting my average speed up to about 20mph, so I don't want to end up with a super-fast group just yet. Regardless, maybe we can get a good list of what we all know together, including days/times/locations. Thanks -- hopefully others will also find this useful!

I'd be interested! Anything going on in the MD area? I live in carroll county, lots of beautiful areas (very hilly) and some nice off road trails. I'm not a racer either, just in it for the adrenaline rushes...

Potomac Pedalers has a wide variety of rides (bikepptc.org), and Oxon Hill Bike Club (www.ohbike.org) also has good rides, mostly in Maryland. Those are two that you might want to check out.

The Bike Rack bike shop in DC does group rides for varying skill levels a few times a week. I think Saturday morning is their beginner, slower-paced ride and Sunday is a slightly faster group. During the week they have fast groups.

Conte's Bike shop in Arlington does a group hill-repeat ride on Tuesday evenings.

You just missed a great one nearby. Plenty of hills, dirt roads and trail. Sounds like something you would like. I put on some similar rides dubbed the "1903 Adventure Rides". You should come out sometime.

Here's this weekend's ride organizer on some of the trail we hit, more photos here.
