Anyone know the conditions of the roads used? Whenever I ride through the Bronx it is full of potholes.

Cool beans! I did most of it last year. It was my first organized tour getting back into biking. It was HORRIBLE!

I started at 34th street in Manhattan and rode to the Riverdale start(felt great). Then rode to the Courthouse start(was very happy). Then rode to City Island(had a ball). Upon leaving City Island, I bonked(I thought I was gonna die). I didn't die. I limped to the subway and went home. Turns out: the 200 calories I ate up untill this point WAS NOT ENOUGH!!

So, for the day, I did 50 miles (but did not finish the ride).

Since then, I did many training rides, one century, at least six organized rides of 60 miles or more.

So basically, this ride is one of my two "unfinished business" rides(the other being the Gold Coast Tour in Long Island)

It is an easy ride, except for climbing into Riverdale. Even that isn't that hard. I usually ride up from Brooklyn and then take the subway home.

One piece of advice for everyone. Start at the courthouse at 158th/Grand Concourse. All the feeder rides are really slow. The real ride starts there, and ends at the gardens.

Not much different than any other urban ride.
Some good roads and some not-so-good.
Nothing a road bike couldn't handle.

I'll prolly do it again this Year.

Last Year I did the 25 ride. It ended up taking much longer than the 40 (or whatever the longest distance was) ride the Year before.

If you can see your way clear, I'd suggest the longer ride even if you plan on taking your time. You can always peel off and head to the garden or home if it's too much.

I've done the Riverdale start in the past. This Year I'll just go directly to the courthouse.

I'm debating whether or not to volunteer this year actually.

Not sure if I'm going to be in town that weekend, but if I am, I'm doing the ride on the singlespeed.

I was going to ride. But after hitting an SUV the other day, it'll be a while before I'm back on the bike.

Matty, I'm in, but have to jet afterward.

Which starting point are you going to register for? I'm thinking of doing the Riverdale one to get an early start.

Let me repeat about the starting point. Start at the courthouse at 158th and Grand Concourse. Every other starting point is just an escorted ride down to the real start. All rides end at the gardens. There isn't really a staggered start and end.

couple of questions:

1. it said the start is at 10 am at the courthouse...do they start on the button and there is a long ass line and u can't peddle after like an hour or something.

2. i'm doing the 25 miles tour...but the 25 miles tour doesn't do city island...so i was thinking first i go with the 25 miles tour and then when city island get close...can i veer off to city island? i want to go there for lunch...a lobster roll. and then head back to join the 25 miles group...is this possible? or will i be all by myself and too late and then probably get my bike jack by the hooligans up the in the bx.?

3. what do you guys do after the tour...bike back home to take the subway? and if subway...which station?

I'll be starting from Riverdale with some friends and family. Maybe I'll get the chance to meet some of the fellow cyclists on here from the NYC area.

vincentnyc- We're thinking of doing the same thing.. steering off to city island, have a great lunch, and jump back on the tour. Feel free to join us!
