i'm visiting boston next week. what are the bike policy on the subway? also what is the helmet law?
Check the MBTA.com website. As I recall, basically bikes are allowed on subways outside of peak hours, but never on the Green Line. On Commuter Rail, with stops within and beyond the subway service area, bikes are allowed on off peak hours (outbound in AM and inbound in PM). See the website for actual hours.
I'm a fortunate commuter because I live downtown and commute outbound to Norwood and then take the train home in the evening. See however our looming mass transit woes: "Boston's public transportation woes...."
thx. also i was thinking biking on the freedom trails. is bike allowed on the freedom trail?
Bikes are allowed on the freedom trail, but not a good idea, IMO. Back in January was a thread about cycle touring in downtown Boston, including my own opinion. See: "Visiting Boston in July - Tour city by bike?"
