SHELTON — When Brian Stockbridge pedals his bike across the United States, he’ll be fulfilling a promise he made to his late son, while helping himself heal from the loss.

Stockbridge, who owns Stockbridge’s Gourmet Cheesecakes at 509 Howe Ave., lost his son David to cancer in 1997, when David was 7 years old. David was born with “Giant Congenital Nevi,” in which large, pigmented moles covered his body. In some cases, as in David’s, cancer develops.

In July, Stockbridge plans to begin his cross-country trek, from Oregon to Georgia, to raise money for research to help fight the rare condition, and to raise awareness about it.
The picture in the article was taken in front of Brian S's restaurant/coffee shop. The food there, especially the baked goods, are great, BTW.
