Can you use camera on GWB pathway?

Is it allowed to take pictures from the GWB pathway?

Last time I looked there were signs on the bridge that said no photography and there are workers on the bridge observing what happens but... last time I was there I took some pictures and nobody said a word. I've also seen pedestrians taking pictures from the bridge. That view is pretty hard to resist.

I take pictures all the time without a problem.
Although, I was once under the bridge at the
Little Red Lighthouse and security asked me to not take pictures.

Wait, what? Why wouldn't you be able to take pictures?

Thanks guys! I hope I'll be there tomorrow. Planning to park in the Fort Lee Historical Park, access the south path from the Hudson Terrace and ride to the other side of GWB.

Because generally, it's not allowed to take pictures on the bridges and in the tunnels. Lincoln Tunnel has sign in that sense. So the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel.

It's my understanding that, although security will often attempt to restrict you from taking pictures, there is no actual law preventing you from doing so. Generally, pictures can be taken of anything from any publicly accessible location.

See https://www.krages.com/phoright.htm.

That's a good link, tjwarren.

Even if they do have some sort of (unconstitutional) backwards law preventing you from photographing, I wouldn't necessarily let that stop me. The law has little to do with right and wrong.

When was the last time you looked? I think the signs on the GWB have been down for 2 years now.

That's odd. Nobody's ever stopped me from taking pictures of the lighthouse.

I meant that I was taking pictures of the bridge from outside the Little Red Lighthouse.
I actually got to walk to the top inside the LRL a few weeks ago.
The door was opened and I thought it was opened to the public.
I walked to the top only to find Park Police up there doing somethng or other.
They turned me around like I was some sort of terrorist.
A terrorist in Lycra and clipless shoes.

Nobody stopped me from taking pictures on the GWB yesterday. Not that I was looking for it, but I couldn't see any sign or warning about using cameras.

I guess I've missed the lighthouse by no more than 300 feet when taking this picture. I was too close to the Manhattan side of the bridge.

No one will stop you from taking pictures of GWB from the Fort Lee Historical Park. Or from under the bridge on the NJ side (Henry Hudson Drive). Went there yesterday, cars were stopping just under the bridge (point "B") and taking pictures of it.

Well quite honestly I don't usually cross the bridge looking for Do Not Photograph signs. It might well have been two years because I vaguely remember seeing them on the north walkway when I was shooting with my Widelux and I haven't used that camera in quite some time.

On the other hand, I've probably done more photos of the Little Red Lighthouse, with and without the bridge in the background, and nobody has ever said a word about it.
