Suggestions for cycling mini-vacation?
I live in Boston (Fenway area) and looking to get away for a couple days during the Sept 1st move-in MAYHEM that occurs every year. Just wondering if anyone had some suggestions for a biking getaway. Here's what I'm looking for:
- Mountains area (NH preferably, or maybe western MA or VT) within 2/2.5 hour drive from Boston
- I want to spend at least one full day mountain biking/trails/off-road and one full day road biking. (I'm bringing both mtb and road bike)
- Mix of challenging and scenic roads/trails
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks :-)

Delaware Water Gap national park. Either stay in Stroudsbourgh PA (south) or Matamoros/Pt Jervis NY (North). PT Jervis is a metro north stop and might be within biking distance (only you can say) of a stuff like Dia Beacon museum and Storm King sculpture park.
New Paltz NY might be interesting too.

Not an endorsement as we haven't done it yet, but this looked appealing to the wife and I. A bit pricey if your going solo. Sort of a credit card tour as they provide transportation for your gear, or you could just arrange a stay at one of the B&B's on their list, or find a cheap motel in the area and ride from there.

I'd suggest western Mass, say the upper CT River Valley, the Mohawk Trail, maybe check out the new pavement on Greylock.
The are a few books with bike routes as well as numerous ride ideas at places like Map my Ride.
Don't know about mountain biking but there are a lot of dirt roads out there.

Cape Cod Rail Trail South Dennis to Wellfleet. Take your pick of places to stay. It's gorgeous!
