I'm back (NYC)
After a 7 week hiatus due to a broken pelvis from a bike accident, I took my first ride in Prospect Park, 4 loops. I didn't feel a thing out of the ordinary for a 54 year old somewhat overweight cyclist riding medium hard. The bone felt fine, the bone on the saddle felt fine, the legs felt like lead, the lungs like fire.
I'm going to try to keep up at least 75 miles a week which between work and home life is about all I can squeeze in. Maybe in the spring I'll have more time and get up over 100/week. There is always the trainer too.
I need to get my 2nd bike back from my son so I can ride it at a relaxed pace and not totally feel like a Fred on carbon poking along. I've just got to remember, hills are my friends.

stole your bike
Glad to hear you were able to ride with no pain in the pelvic region, that's a great sign all is well. The miles will come as you continue to ride so just take it easy and keep building up the base - it is fall afterall.

Thanks. The miles WILL come slowly I know. It is fall after all. Maybe we'll have a winter like 07/08 where I could ride in shorts in January and I'll get out a lot. I can only hope.
Maybe I'll do the Tour de Bronx as a start. I always have a good time on that ride.

Glad to hear you're back in the saddle.
Keep away from that car wash on Coney Island Avenue.

If I remember correctly, Zacster went down close to where I went down a few months ago.
Outside the car wash on C.I.A. and Church.
There are some ruts in the road there and the wax or the Armorall that drips off the cars coming out of the car wash can make things REAL slippery.
I steer clear of the any car wash now.
I actually stay off C.I.A.

I haven't been over there again so I don't know if anything was done, but I doubt it.
