Hartford, CT - Dudley, MA: Route Recommendations?

My buddy and I are going to ride from Hartford to Dudley, Mass., on Saturday for the bike swap meet there. Right now our plan is to follow the Google Maps walking route, but I'd love to know if anyone has recommendations for trails, bike paths, or fun stops or detours that we might do along the way.

The ride was great! The weather couldn't have been better, I had two friends with me, and we lazed our way across the state. Here's my bloggy postmortem on the voyage, and here's my buddy Chris's write-up.
