This petition is to have District Department of Transportation and Maryland Department of Transportation have speedbumps installed as well as a bicycle lane made with reflector boarders on the full length of Southern Avenue, bordering Washington, DC and the state of Maryland

Call for Changes in Wake of Cyclist's Death

As a result of the death of cyclist David Williams on Southern Avenue on Friday, his family has created an online petition asking for speedbumps and a bicycle lane with reflective borders along the length of Southern Avenue. I doubt speed bumps are possible, but bike lanes might be. I've ridden that stretch and some sort of improvement is needed, especially with the Metro station across the street.

This petition is to have District Department of Transportation and Maryland Department of Transportation have speedbumps installed as well as a bicycle lane made with reflector boarders on the full length of Southern Avenue, bordering Washington, DC and the state of Maryland.

The road is completely in DC, so Maryland would have nothing to do with it.
