NYC Bike stores
Hi, I was wondering if anyone of you have any bike store that you recommend that sells bikes below MSRP or with no tax?
I live in Queens so Manhattan or Queens would work.

sure, there's one shop. Owner's name is Craig. here's their site: www.craigslist.org
just kidding.
honestly, try BicyclesNYC, Larry & Jeff's, Conrad's.
NYC Velo has really nice stuff, and they're honest, but crappy attitude.
avoid Metro Bicycles.

they have damaged my bikes twice.
when i was very newby, they tried to sell me the oldest bike in the shop, and told me that i needed a shoe 2 sizes too big because that's what "everybody wears."
when i go in there with my current to buy tubes/CO2, their ignorant employees talk down about my equipment because they think they know more about it than i do. "BUY SOME ZIPPS DURR"

Good to know about Metro Bicycles. Yes they have the most locations in the city. Once I was in the shop and a guy came with a bike needing to true the front wheel. After the job done, they asked for $20, and the guy was unhappy. Was $20 reasonable for truing a wheel? Just curious.

So I went to Bicycle Habitat where they answered my questions, let me take a bike for a test ride, and offered me a deal on that year's model.

I recommend Larry & Jeffs on 2nd. Their mechanic, manny, is amazing.
Why do you even bother with a store that treats you like that when there are so many bike shops in Manhattan to choose from? I went into the Metro Bikes on Sixth Avenue ready to spend money on a bike but they completely ignored me.

If you're interested in dealing with the Richard Speck of bike shops, head out to R&A in Brooklyn.
