Manhattan Bridge WTF????

So I see they have apparently moved the bike path from uptown side of bridge to downtown side.

Okay so far, slightly different view. But when you get dumped out in Manhattan, that's about 10 accidents waiting to happen. Someone dropped the ball here.

I always take the Brooklyn Bridge in and out of the city.
This past weekend I took the Manhattan Bridge for the first time.
What's with all the detours to get onto the bridge?

they are working on the uptown side. once you get used to it...its not so bad.

the worse part is on the brooklyn side. they put those damn huge electronic counters that there isn't alot of room to maneuver.

I use the Brooklyn Bridge every day except Friday when I use the Manhattan Bridge because I have an appointment before work. I enjoy the change of pace and the different view. My guess is that it's a much bigger inconvenience for pedestrians than for us. For me it actually saves me a few seconds on my commute as I have to go downtown. I wouldn't mind if it was permanent. (is it?)
I didn't think the traffic situation was ideal on the other end to start with, so I don't think it's that much worse getting on or coming off on this.
The number of pedestrians in the bike lane is only slightly higher than it was on the uptown side.
