Join us at Prince George's County Community College, Prince Place south of Campus Way, Largo, MD, Saturday September 17 at 10am.
We'll be gathering to honor a neighbor we lost this time last year. Natasha Pettigrew of Cheverly was a cycle-advocating, lawyer-aspiring, daughter of a hard working mother. Natasha had taken the path of the Green Party to pick a fight with corruption of the county's political process. A motorist collided with Natasha while she was on her bike training for a triathlon. You may have heard this story last year. The bike was dragged a few miles; the motorist was hopeful that she'd hit a dog, but the bike under her SUV was hard evidence otherwise.
Since the trauma last year, Natasha's mother, Kenniss Henry, has picked up the ball. After completing Natasha's campaign to run against Senator Barbara Mikulski, Kenniss ran right into the courts to successfully affect the laws that have so far allowed her daughter's end to be without dire legal responsibility on the part of the motorist.
Automobile dominance of our avenues - in law as well as in travel - is in danger of receding, thankfully... this time in the neglected and politically corrupt developer's playground of Prince George's County.
A group of very concerned individuals are solidly supporting Kenniss Henry. We invite you to join us near the site and anniversary of the collision, in rallying and riding for our neighbor, daughter, Natasha Pettigrew. Let trauma be returned to, and inspire change.
You may take the blue line east to Largo Metro Station. Bikes are allowed on the Metro all day on Saturdays. Largo Station is within 2 miles of Prince George's County Community College.
Also, you are encouraged to join one of our feeder rides from points west and north:
