We'll see if they'll use coaster bikes as fixed gear like in Quicksilver...
New York + Bike messenger + bad guys = potentially a good movie

I hate to be a downer, but I'm worried what this movie will do for bike culture. It's bad enough that everyone shouts "Go Lance" at me whenever I go for a ride. I also hope it doesn't inspire would-be hipsters to take up biking. Is that being overly negative?

I think it's great for bike culture because there is so little of it that any exposure is good.
Bike messengers have been an exciting sub-culture for a long time- face paced, independent, dangerous and with a purpose- perfect for film!
Movies rarely set the trend. They reflect what's already going on and bring it to a larger audience.
Take it as a good sign when people say "Go Lance" At least they recognize the bike racing. It's pretty tough to run over someone you are on a first-name basis with!
I'm for anything to do with bicycles in media, it's only going to help.

Yhea, I have to agree with cruiserhead, any positive visibility is good. Enough with "bikes don't belong in the streets" or "fixed gear are too dangerous" and "biking is for poors and people who have lost their driver's license", etc.
