Wrecked bike - temporary rental?

This is an incredibly distressful day for me: for the second year in a row, and at exactly the same time of the year, an extraordinary, stupid accident claimed my bike. In the second case, I ran over it with my own car. While the coroner is investigating the cadaver and assessing the total damage before building me the second one in two years, I ask:

1) Has anyone had any experience with damage caused by a car and does the car insurance pick it up?
2) Is there a shop in eastern MA (I live in Arlington) that would rent a good road bike for a month or two?

Thanks
John
