Revisisitng DC/mid-atlantic

I'll throw out my opinion, since I live in the DC Area (northern VA to be specific) is that the greater mid-atlantic region gets split out from SE and NE. I'm not too sure (living here for the second time) that folks who live in the DC metro area consider themselves part of either area--NE or SE. I realize it is challenging, because even within a particular state there may be identification with more than one of the common regions, however, as the current regional structure for the forums is organized, the DC area, which includes a sizable portion of northern VA and MD is split.

I propose a mid-Atlantic sub forum consisting of NJ, PA, MD, DE, DC, VA, WV. Thoughts?

It's been tried, but worth trying again. There is definitely a hub of cycling activity in DC, MD, and VA, with parts of southeastern PA and eastern WV mixed in.

I realize it has been tried (the stickied poll, since closed, at the top of this forum stand testament to that)...however, knowing there is a vibrant cycling community in the DC area, and lots of good riding that extends out over the region, I figured it is worth a re-try. Any ideas on who we should petition? Tom Stormcrowe? Are there any admins or mods from the area?

Figured I'd bump this to see if a mod or admin would like to weigh in?

Bump for the Mid-Atlantic. Maryland is definitely NOT the North East.

Yep. My thoughts exactly! VA is definitely NOT the South East.

Matt, by that same logic, I am pretty sure no one considers MD, PA, or DC in the northeast either....i'm guessing that i am just banging a drum with no skin here, though.

Giving this thread a bump. I would suggest a Metro DC sub forum. That would open things up by elinating the pesky borders. If you feel you're part of the Metro DC area - share your info.

My $.02

That'd probably do the trick too...I just figured a mid-atlantic is less about a single large metro area, and about a specific and identifiable region.

Just got here myself, but I have to admit I was a bit surprised to see that there is no Mid-Atlantic sub-forum. We down here in lower slower Delaware definitely don't see ourselves as part of the Northeast.

Exactly. There has got to be some kind of way to convince the folks running this hangout that there is a Mid-Atlantic region...it's girography (jir-og-RAH-fee) as my daughter says (I think its her hybrid geography and giraffe word)! But, I'm with ya.
