I don't see why you couldn't. Just use the side walk and pay attention to your surroundings. I see people on bikes all the time going over that bridge.

OK cool thanks for the intel.

On googlemaps that sidewalk doesn't look bikeable. If I ride over it (probably going to) I am taking a lane.

I did it last year -- one year ago yesterday, to be exact. I took the north sidewalk (on the Toms River-bound side) going both ways.

I live in New York City; I was down there on a visit. So I asked a bicyclist whom I met down there whether there is a bikeable sidewalk on the other side; and he said no.

I wouldn't ride in the traffic lanes.

Thanks for the headsup. Ill take a look at the north side of the bridge. I may try the traffic lane. I will be going over mid to late morning sunday so it may be stop and go anyway.

Took this ride over the causeway sunday. We got to the causeway and saw there is a big sign warning motorists to watch for bicycles on the causeway so we rode the whole way over side by side in the right lane no problem.

The only uncomfortable part was at the end. There is a freeway style exit and to head north we had to move over into the middle lane with some traffic doing nearly highway speeds. Still worked out fine and only a few impatient horn honkers.

Spent some time on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, rode north to Point Pleasant, had some awesome burritos for dinner in Manasquan and took a bike path inland and camped at Allaire State Park.

Nice day nice ride!
