Good starting point for Mount Vernon trail in Washington

I've ridden the W&OD, Fairfax Cross County Trail and Ox Road sidepath and am interested in trying out the Seventeen Mile Drive. What place would be convenient to jump onto the trail and park my car.
    Thanks, Rich

Rich, I do a lot of riding in the area and have never heard of Seventeen Mile Dr and don't find it on Google Maps. Where in general is it located?

Rich - The trail that you are referring to is actually called the Mt. Vernon trail. A good spot to park you car and get on the trail is Gravelly Point Park, which is just north of National airport. There are many parks on the Mt Vernon parkway south of the beltway that have parking also. A good one which has lots of parking is the Belle Haven park area. A lot of people park there and ride the trail.
