ACTIVE NYC MEMBERS Thread and westchester/surrounding nj

This will be a directory for those in nyc or around it. I am trying to replace the old, inactive thread. I am actually from Westchester county, but I feel that some people are close enough, so you can post in this if you are in NYC or the suburbs. I will sort members by location and then alphabetically, so please give a general location, i.e. Brooklyn.

Live in Suffolk County (Lindenhurst) but work in Brooklyn. Have a pick-up and tools if anyone is out this way.

Gramercy 01-25-14 11:53 PM

I live a block from central park. Going to start doing Crits in march if anyone is interested. In NYC and also in surrounding areas. I have a car.

NYCC member (but I haven't done any rides with them, yet)
Regular rides include 9W, Bear Mtn, and CP

Looking for some regular training folks when the weather warms. Also have a spare bike in the North GA mountains available to loan out, once I get to know you ;)
Rides planned for 2014: Ride to Montauk 150, Cherohala Skyway Century North Carolina/TN, and several others

I do PC and 9W, did bear mountain once. That was quite a climb. I'm thinking of joining CRCA so I can do all of their saturday races in central park. Can I also join NYCC? I don't know about the rules of joining both clubs.

wilfried 01-27-14 10:10 AM

Manhattan, Lower East Side

thatcycleguy 01-27-14 10:11 AM

I see nothing in the by laws that would prohibit you joining NYCC.

New Jersey is snubbed again? :) I live in Hudson County; I'm right across the river.
I usually volunteer as a marshal for the big charity rides. Will probably do a few of
them again this year; NYC Century, Bike MS NYC, Five Boro, NYCC's Escape NY, etc.
I also commute to my job in midtown 3 or 4 times a week. Sometimes I tag along
on weekend club rides with NYCC or 5 Boro Bike Club.

Brooklyn here.

I did Bear Mt this past fall for the first time and was surprised at how easy it was. This encouraged me to try Mt. Haleakala, something a bit higher at 10000' up from the beach at sea level. I "only" made it to 6000, which is by far the longest climb I've ever done, and it is ALL uphill.

FFJ 01-27-14 01:23 PM

NYC here too.

youngbeginner 01-29-14 05:05 PM

cool. FFJ, if you could give a specific part, that would be great. If not, I'll just list you in the general NYC area. 1nterceptor, I'll add you and a new jersey section

I'm in Manhattan.

youngbeginner 01-30-14 07:28 PM

cool. Fixed

Dodgson 02-02-14 02:06 PM

I'm in Hudson County as well. I'm still a beginner (and haven't been on my bike much since the snowstorm), but once the snow is all gone and the roads are OK I'll be back in the game. My standard route is out and back on 9W. I'm hoping to do longer rides this year, with my 2014 goal being a century, possibly to Bear Mt.

leooooo 02-03-14 11:53 AM

Forest Hills, Queens

Hey all, I'm in Manhattan (Chinatown to be exact). I work a regular job, so nights and weekends are my best times for getting a ride in.
