Union Station D.C. to Mount Vernon

Hey ya'll. I'll be in D.C. for a conference next week, and I'm heading out early to check out the area this weekend. I've been scoping out some bike routes, and think D.C. to Mt. Vernon would be a nice ~40 mile ride to take in the sights. Already have some rental prospects lined up for a road bike.

I know you all had snowfall recently, but the weather looks a lot warmer leading into the weekend. Has the snow melted, and if not, do you think it will melt in time for a Sunday ride? Does anyone know the condition of the Mt. Vernon bike trail?

I haven't seen the MVT lately, but we had a good amount of melting today. I suspect the rain got rid of most of the snow, and most of what's left will be gone with the 60 degree weather forecast for this weekend.

The MVT will almost certainly be clear next week, unless we get more snow

It's a nice trail, and scenic, but can get crowded. The only confusing part is when you get to Old Town Alexandria. When the trail seems to run out, just turn left, then follow Union Street all the way to the end. Just keep heading for the Wilson Bridge and you can't get lost
