Moderate Road Routes, NE Kingdom, VT?
I'll be up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont with three friends in mid-July. We'll be staying three nights in Brighton State Park (in Island Pond, VT), and bringing both road and mountain bikes. We're looking for attractive road routes with mileage somewhere in the 30s and total elevation of not more than around 2,000 feet. Are there any, or are we going to have to "elevate" our game a bit?
Also, within Kingdom Trails, does anyone know if there are beginner trails, not crazy-hilly or technical?

Brighton is nice. Heard and saw a couple of loons there back in '10. IIRC, VT 111 to Seymour Lake wasn't that hilly.
Where is western Mass. are you. I graduated from Deerfield Academy in '83 and did D2R2 (100K route) a few years ago.

I can speak to the Kingdom Trails question. Yes there are beginner trails that are not crazy-hilly and/or technical. If you ask in the KT office and tell them what you are looking for they can map out the trails for you.

As a general rule, the bigger the road the less hilly. I'd recommend 105 in addition to 111. The flattest you will find is Route 3 in New Hampshire. It's worth the drive.
