Father's Day Rides?
I'm always envious of you guys who get to ride on holidays, when everything is quiet and peaceful out there. We celebrated Father's Day with my kids last weekend, as they were supposed to be away today. Plans changed, and everyone thought it was too strange not to get together today, so there goes the ride I've been planning all week!
Please help me ride vicariously today. Where will YOU be riding?

Left Massapequa at 7:00am with my son and his girl friend. Headed north through Bethpage and then up Washington. Through Cold Spring Hills and headed south on Sweet Hollow. Then back on Old Country and up Mt. Misery. Finally south on Round Swamp and back to Massapequa.
Awesome ride.

I did 12 miles on the mountain bike with my 13 year old son; the weather was perfect, no snakes, and no crashes. It was awesome.

For Father’s Day this year I went to Church, brunch and a walk through tony Back Bay in Boston with my 17 year old daughter (a weekly event anyways). That afternoon I rode 14 miles on my regular commute through peaceful and scenic residential Boston to spend about 45 minutes at work to catch up on something, then 14 miles home. As for the others posting above, it was as, a poet asked, “what is so rare as a day in June?..if ever, come perfect days…”
That evening my wife, daughter, our 25 year-old, son and a few good family friends joined for a 3 hour dinner at a local Steakhouse. It was a good day, combining family and cycling.

since my daughter is in boot camp(ROTC) my only plans were a bbq at my dads in huntington. So I left my house in east meadow and rode north through westbury, brookville, down into oysterbay, through cold spring harbor, laurel hollow and into huntington. Did a few hills, loop of cliff rd, mill hill rd, cliff rd, then moores hill rd, lawrence hill rd, and finally park ave. A nice 30 mile ride with my dad meeting me and riding the last 5 miles. He's 70 and got in 20 miles that day. Then back to his house for bbq with ribs, sausage ,plenty of beer and plenty of family. Definitely one of my top 10 days.
