Does a road bike fit in a NYC taxi?

Just curious if anyone has ever tried to fit a bike in a NYC cab, just in case I encounter a flat since I dont carry any tools with me. Maybe if I quick release and remove the front wheel? Or one of those larger hybrid type taxis? TIA

There are so many different cars used as taxis it's hard to say.

Yes, but I have only used the Ford Escape looking cabs.
Also, Bikes are allowed on Subways. Just use the swipe by the access door to open it. Avoid peak times for your own sanity.

I'm almost certain it would fit in most cabs, assuming the driver will wait for you to remove one, maybe both, wheels. If you're going to do it, I would watch for one of the van cabs or the new Nissan NV200 concoctions, since you could probably toss it in the back of those without much trouble at all. That's what I do whenever I'm transporting something large.

Wouldn't it be simpler to carry a pump and flat kit?
