Today I rode down to Riis Park from Brooklyn over the Marine Park Bridge at the end of Flatbush Avenue. At the Riis Park end they have finally installed a traffic light so that bikes/pedestrians can now cross from the bridge walkway over to the beach. I've been going there for almost 50 years and always thought it was just a dangerous crossing, with bridge traffic and also thru traffic coming over an overpass. There must have been Sandy money to do it.

The road was marked with bike arrows, but there is still no curb cut. That intersection has been the same as long as I've been going through there, with the same cracked concrete, medians that actually block a straight crossing, weeds, etc...
