What could go right? That we have fun? Catch up with one another's antics and life events? That we ride our bikes together and enjoy it?

You know me, the ultimate lemonade-maker.

Antioch...It is getting worse, and it wasn't all that great to start with.
I've had my home burglarized. The corner strip mall and 7-11 on Wildhorse has become a magnet for bad behavior. Littering and red light running is epidemic. The amount of broken glass on the streets is frightening. The number of homes in what used to be nice neighborhoods that have broken cars on the their weed covered front yards grows daily. Watching the homeless root through the recycle cans on garbage pickup day me think I'm in a third world slum. I love my house, but if I could afford to escape I would. I just can't afford Walnut Creek or Alamo and I want to stay in the Bay Area. Antioch is Richmond or Vallejo and doesn't even have nice areas like Oakland.

I don't know what happened to Antioch. Sadly, Antioch seems to be the new hotbed of crime in CCCo. A lot of people who used to live in Antioch seem to have moved further out to Brentwood, and what's left in Antioch is pretty bad. Even seems like when I read/hear/watch the news, Antioch seems to come up a lot, and not for good reasons. Back when I was a kid, Antioch seemed more like a blue collar working class town, not really crime ridden, just maybe not the most affluent folks. But it has definitely changed for the worse these days.

Thanks for the well wishes.
Quality pepper spray would have likely made a difference if it was deployed in time. You cannot see or breath if you get sprayed in the face. You have to have it readily assessable and be willing to immediately aim it at someones face and fire it off. Every single time I ride a carry pepper spray, hearing your story makes me glad I do.

Be sure to get a couple extra cans of pepper spray to practice with, so you know how far it sprays and how long it lasts. Good luck, and recovery well.
