Today I explored, seeing how I can add a bit more climbing to my normal workday morning ride. Found Tartan Trail Rd in Hillsborough, not too bad.

I was originally going to do OLH, skyline, and come back down either Canada Rd. or Kings Mountain.
Unfortunately, I flipped off my bike head first a block or so from my house (oops). I probably should've just stopped there, but being full of adrenaline from the crash, I road the sandhill/alpine loop.
Then the pain sunk in. mm

I ended up squeezing the brakes too fast when I saw a lady with a baby carriage turn a corner. I had plenty of time to stop, but I got a lil ahead of myself and ended up locking my front wheel. :/. Next time I will wait at least 30 minutes after drinking coffee before I ride hehe.

I decided to combine Tartan Trail with the steep bit of Alameda, did that on Thursday, felt good. 
I took Alameda all the way back to Crystal Springs but think I need to turn off early so I can actually get some work done during the day.

Today I did OLH, Skyline and down Kings Mountain, and back home.
It was a bit wet but not too bad. Nice and quiet, except for one moment.
I was climbing on Skyline from Alice's up to Kings Mountain, and heard a car come up behind me.
I made sure I was on the right, and waited for it to pass.
However, it just hung out behind me.
Then, I heard a very loud crackling noise, which really startled me.
Turns out it was a cop. He turned on his loudspeaker to talk to me.
"Stay to the right. Please be very careful of the cars. Don't cross the double yellow."
Then he passed me, and I waved to him.
It was a bit wet but not too bad. Nice and quiet, except for one moment.
I was climbing on Skyline from Alice's up to Kings Mountain, and heard a car come up behind me.
I made sure I was on the right, and waited for it to pass.
However, it just hung out behind me.
Then, I heard a very loud crackling noise, which really startled me.

Started out on Bostic's Knee Replacement training ride. Did the first half of it, as I didn't want to hold everyone back when they went to do tres hombres climbs. I did manage to get up Redwood Gulch, Toll Road-Saratoga Heights, and Montebello. I still managed to get 40 miles, 4000 feet climbing. Finished the ride by noon, and have the rest of the day free!

I was riding to the meetup for Bostic's ride, 7am on Agnew in Santa Clara... cop coming the other way flashed his high beams at me a few times as I rode along the bike lane towards him. The sun wasn't over the mountains, but it was plenty light and no doubt after the official sunrise. I had my taillamp going but no headlamp. I just rode by, hoping if he turned around to harass me it'd take him more than 30 seconds, since by then I'd be on the trail...

We did a short ride thru Pinole to Alhambra Valley Road - Alhambra Ave - Carquinez Scenic Drive - San Pablo Ave - Home. 39 miles and 2989ft of climbing even though it felt like more.

China Camp...awesome awesome. My SS met it's match, had to walk a section or two. I stood up once and pedaled as hard as I could but ended up going backwards instead.

Rode the Loomis loop and combined it with a loop around Folsom. 65 miles. 3500 feet.

Took my 9 year old up to Mt. Hamilton via the same route as the BF Memorial and Labor Day rides. 37 miles, 4800 ft of climbing, 3 hour ascent to the top, saw two tarantulas, a deer, a llama, and goats! He had a blast!

And an added bonus any little boy would love to see. We spent over five minutes stopped on the side of the rode hoping this tarantula makes it to his destination without qetting squashed. More than ten cars passed over him while we were watching. Hope he's still alive...

On Saturday, the Konocti Challenge century, circumnavigating Clear Lake and adding in the hill villages of Hobergs and Cobb. Showers off and on, but never any real driving rain. It's a nice ride, scenic, low traffic (except for short stretches on highway 29), and great BBQ at the finish.

Don't mince words
Today was our first tandem ride since 3 Sisters 3 weeks ago. We met Scotty and rode to the Wooden Valley Cross/Wooden Valley intersection. He went left and you can read his report. We went right and finished the ride in a respectable time, given our tandem layoff. The ride, the weather, the day was just fabulous and darned near perfect. I had drudge-work the rest of the day and this ride kept me happy all day.
We'll follow Scottie one of these days, but he has to pull us, not the other way 'round.

When the ride went up Niles, I was doing great with the fast pace and was able to keep up with my young lady friend I went with but she kept telling me to stay with the lead group but to no avail, (when you can't, you can't you know?) soon they disappeared up Paloma Rd. and I never saw her again. Joy turned to extreme sadness.
Well, time for some serious intensity stuff, enough of that solo comfort zone stuff.
