Don't mince words

Now I'm lookin' for a new wheelset, or at the very least a new front wheel. The 2008 Easton EA90 SLX is a light wheelset, but my experience has been subpar: flexy, never stayed true, two broken spokes on the front.

at your review of those Easton wheels. I just got a new pair (bent my rear Cane Creek Volos and can't get a new one; CC only makes track wheels now ). I rode them outdoors for the first time on Sunday. I found them stiff yet smoother riding than the Volos. I've heard conflicting reviews of the ceramic bearings and their need for frequent tweaking. I'm concerned about that.Hope you get back on the road soon.

What a great day! What a fun ride! What gorgeous scenery! What a great bunch to ride with!
Bigbossman, LanceOldstrong, MarkoPolo, Midland and I met up in Napa, The weather - superb. So off up Mt. Veeder, down Oakville Grade and lunch at the Oakville Grocery. LanceOldstrong treated. 
Then, across the Valley, up 128 to the Nicholini (?) Winery and a taste of some yummy white wine, then looped around on Lower Chiles and Pope Valley-Chiles Valley back to 128 and retraced our route to Oakville Grocery for another quick break.
We then went back up Oakville Grade. That is one steep mother for this almost-uberClyde - I am just not built for extended 12% to 17% grades.
Only a mile, thank goodness, and BBM and I kept each other company climbing veeeeeery slowly, all but collapsing on the side the road, barfing up lungs (not really, but . . .) and eventually making it to the top to rousing cheers from the other three. At least, I think they were cheers - it's kind of hard to tell when the blood is pounding like a bass drum in your ears.
From there, a simply wonderful run down Dry Creek Road back to Napa and a fine BBQ dinner at Q's (the restaurant, not the Star TreK: Next Generation recurring character). A hair over 60 miles, about 4400 feet of climbing; it felt like 4395 of it was Oakvilel Grade, but I'm resanably certain that such was not the case.

It was indeed a gorgeous spring day. We abandoned our Mt. D plans due to time constraints, so we decided to do a quick 30 mile tandem ride.
About 7 miles into the ride we had a flat. As we were ready to leave a fellow tourer stopped to say hello, and 10 min. later, a Davis Bike Club friend w/whom we've ridden both singles and tandem w/him and his lovely bride stopped. Quick introductions, then cars, so Touring friend headed off in the opposite direction. DBC friend rode with us for the next 15 miles, even hanging around while Chris changed our 2nd flat. )c: So our 1.5 hr. jaunt became 2+ hrs. We had good company and enviable weather, so what the heck.
Looking forward to more hours on the bike this week than last.

Basically did the Monticello Solano Metric Century route today with Bikingshearer. About 60 miles and ~4000' of climbing.

Had a nice mountain bike ride today in Lake Chabot, if any of you know it. Did the lake loop with some steep climbing and exploring on the hills encompassing the lake. Total ride length: 15.3 miles according to the computer. Took me an hour and forty-five minutes.
The trails were pretty soggy, and I had quite a theatrical spill on some rutted single track, but it was a great day. And I feel great. And I'm going to sleep like a baby.

To celebrate the first day of spring, i decided to ride my very first coastal route.
This route is a variation of the classic that i've seen on many sites before.
Basically: Redwood Gulch, Hw9, Skyline, W Alpine, Pescadero(Haskins), Stage, Tunitas.

The plan was to ride from home in the morning and head to Pescadero and have lunch with the family over there,
then they can enjoy the great spring weather at the beach and i continue on with my suffer-fest
(need to be prepared for that Wine Country Century) then returning back to Pescadero to catch the sunset at the beach.
The ride was tons of fun and the coastal route is all what it's cracked up to be and more.
Lessons learned:
1) I'm still new with this whole recovery/nutrition thing. Needless to say, i should've taken Friday off from the bike.
2) Accelerade: Probably this was not the best ride to experiment with new food/drinks.
3) Did not heed the advice of not pigging out at lunch. But that artichoke bread is so good, i think i must've devoured 3/4th of that loaf during lunch.

Because of 2 and 3 above i was having all sorts of stomach cramps/pains and that was not fun on Tunitas.
All in all, tremendously enjoyable ride. One that i plan to repeat often.

Did my favorite east bay ride. 42 mile loop starting at Orinda BART. Moraga way to Canyon Rd to Pinehurst South to Redwood to Skyline. Up Skyline to Grizzly Peak, then a short out-and-back down Old Tunnel Road to the bottom (at Hiller). Then back up to Grizzly Peak, then down through Berkeley, and then return via Wildcat Canyon to Camino Pablo and back to BART. Highly recommended if you are riding that area!!
Went with my GF who is just starting to ride...even though I gave her severl cut-off routes, it still took 4 hours to do a ride which normally takes 2 hours and change. Ugh!!

cthenn - chance we might have passed. I headed out solo today and did the 3 bears - felt good putting in a solid effort on SPDR, short of my PR by 1min (1h 3m) - but there was an annoying headwind on Alhambra...excuses, excuses. Then climbed Wildcat and Shasta, slogged it out along GP and took the descent down Pinehurst for one of my favourite false flats down through Canyon. 44 miles and 4000ish ft.
The weather was absolutely glorious, no knee warmers, had to dispense with arm warmers and remove my toe covers for the first time in months. Sweet indeed.

(need to be prepared for that Wine Country Century) then returning back to Pescadero to catch the sunset at the beach.
The ride was tons of fun and the coastal route is all what it's cracked up to be and more.
Lessons learned:
1) I'm still new with this whole recovery/nutrition thing. Needless to say, i should've taken Friday off from the bike.
2) Accelerade: Probably this was not the best ride to experiment with new food/drinks.
3) Did not heed the advice of not pigging out at lunch. But that artichoke bread is so good, i think i must've devoured 3/4th of that loaf during lunch.

Because of 2 and 3 above i was having all sorts of stomach cramps/pains and that was not fun on Tunitas.
All in all, tremendously enjoyable ride. One that i plan to repeat often.

50 miles of gorgeous marin roads. man, there's a lot of traffic out there. larkspur to bovine bakery n back on a new (to me) bike with new gears. hmmm.. need to work up to be worthy of my gears.
