weekend ride reports - where'd ya ride?

Don't mince words
We waited until after 2 pm for the winds to die down, as they did yesterday. Chris blew the dust off the Co-Mo and called the route; we went over Cantelow and had a very satisfying ride along the Winters Loop. The weather was excellent. Wish we'd had time to keep riding.
Bigbossman, your pics are great. Love that BS rocks the wool jerseys. BTW, what bike were you riding? Was it my fave, the Palo Alto? I that bike.

You always post great pics BBM. I had the exact same view of the bay - I was on domestic duty most of the day but snuck out for a ride ~12:30. Headed up El Toyonal to Lomas Cantadas, I've just learned that apparently the name means singing hills. I wasn't singing. I've decided to rename it Lomas B4st4rdas.
Anyhow, made it out alive and did Grizzly Peak down Pinehurst and back, then found a road in my neighbourhood that is like a mini-Lomas. For some reason, I always have a tough time getting the Pinehurst descent just right - a lot of sand/grit on the corners at the top today, as well as those annoying off-camber curves.
No piccies for me, but a little 20mile/3000ft-er. Stunningly nice day.

The Palo Alto is my favorite as well, but today I rode the Cinelli. Not a bad "back-up" bike to have in the stable. FWIW, I've got a deal cooking on a "not distributed in the U.S." steel frameset. Columbus MAX tubing, and a killer paint job. That's all I'm saying for now.....

We started at Orinda BART, went up Wildcat to Skyline, and then looped over to Pinehurst and then down though Moraga and back to Orinda. Maybe we passed you somewhere?
From today:

Nice pics BBM. BS looks like Mr. Incredible in that photo.
I spend Saturday morning cleaning and lubing my bike for the 2pm cyclocross race.
It was hot and dry. I sucked so much dust during the race that I was hacking stuff
up for the next 8 hours.
Part of the course had a 6ft rise to climb over and another had a 9ft rise to climb over.
You can make it up on the bike if you have enough speed, are in a tall enough gear,
and avoid panicking. Well so dude fell over on one of them and took me down with him, briefly.
My arm fell onto his rear drivetrain (I can tell he had at least 8 speeds )...
I passed him but on a straightaway he got around me and on the next rise he fell again! I almost
got around him but had to put a foot down... into his spokes! Hahaha. WTF, get up that hill!
The rest of the race was luckily uneventful and I ended up alone, in between the fast guys
and the slower guys (same thing happened the last two races as well).

We went out early with some of the race team. Their ride included Mt. George into Yountville/Napa and Atlas Peak. We tandemistas stuck with a very pleasant Gordon Valley loop in reverse. Lovely day for a ride, and a lovely ride we had. Set a very satisfying tone to the entire day.
Congrats, Henry, and sorry about the klutzy guy in front of you. I like Pete's idea -- tusslin' with a mountain lion is much more impressive-sounding than the real story.

Montebello Sunday. Rode to the top, then came down and proceeded to climb Mt. Eden, then came back. Perfect day for riding.

Well for me it was one of my rare chances to go out and ride when it's not a centrury. I wanted to do a little climbing so my intention was to get on the Los Gatos Creek Trail head up Shannon Road then hit Kennedy Road and back home on the LG Trail. Well I climbed up Shannon while descending missed the turn off for Kennedy. So here I am and because I've heard so much about Hicks road, I decide to see what all the hoop la is about the climb up Hicks. My first indicator was a sign that said "Windy Road next 7 miles!" Riding along I said to myself "This isn't that bad" then I see this "U" turn sign and after I make that turn I see the road going straight up! I'm now scrambling to get into my Triple and for the next few miles it was "Climbing Hell" for me. I'm huffing and puffing and after stopping a couple of times, (on one of those times I called the Bossman and told him my plight. His response was something like "Now you know how I felt when I climbed Page Mill Road and how if I was one of his "REAL" friends I would have called him" Whatever! So I finally make it to the top of Hicks Road and start my descent. Usually I let the bike go and scream down the hills. Not here! The turns were sharp and I was on my brakes back and forth most of the way down and finally came to a stop at Almaden reservoir. I will say that this was the hardest climb I've done to date, but boy was it a beautiful day to ride.

Saturday we did a nice tandem ride down to a craft fair at Lynwood High, off prospect. Got some good handmade xmas presents for people there and had a delicious brownie. Came back down San Tomas to the LG Creek Trail .. Man, what pretty weekend weather.

Skipped the Montebello Sundays ride due to sore quads from long run on Saturday, but got too antsy in the afternoon so went out and did a quick 28-miler ride from Palo Alto up to OLH and returning via 84 /Junipero Serra.

Did a real nice short ride from my house in Daly City down Skyline, around Lake Merced once and over to Lincoln Avenue along the beach on the great highway. I had to stop and just take in the ocean for a little bit. This area used to be my playground as a kid growing up in the Sunset. Although I probably should have worn the short sleeve jersey instead since it warmed up.
I need to get on my bike more often... I was suckin' wind going back up Skyline to my turn on Hickey!!

Riding is my addiction
Went with a friend on Saturday rode the Marshall Wall Loop, first time for me. Drove to Fairfax and eliminated all the junk miles. The weather was awesome, the scenery magnificient. In Marshall we stopped at a Oyster bar for a snack and the water on Tomales Bay was flat like a lake, no wind or fog. What a rare day. Rode back though Point Reyes Station and Olema and Samuel P park. A great ride.
