catlike helmets in san francisco

Hey folks,
I'm in the market for a new helmet and was wondering if anyone knows of a place in SF (or maybe the east bay even) where I could check out one of those oh so chaud catlike helmets? Or perhaps something similarly non-pointy in the rear?

47 people have read your post and sadly not one of them knows what you are talking about! What is a chaud? What is a catlike helmet? Would it go well with the bike shorts that look like jean shorts? I love those suckers....

I'm pretty sure Landis wears one of those. I've never seen them around here in SF, or any of the south bay shops I've been to.

Sorry, can't help.

I think "chaud" is French for "hot."

Anyone on the cat-like helmet?

Catlike https://www.catlike.es/
Catlike is a Spanish company named for its founder, whose bicycle racing nickname was "the cat." Their line includes eight models. All are molded in the shell except the toddler helmet.

I think they are available via European websites. Cool looking.

I'm planning on checking out BC bike shops when I go up there this May. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they could not be sold in the United States, so the shops in the US do not carry Catlike. I'm not entirely certain that you would be able to order one from overseas, although it's always worth a try.

They are not currently being sold in the US.....Orbea USA I believe was in talks about being the US distributor. I believe they recently were approved for being sold in the US...

I might just order one from overseas...not sure yet....

You see them on eBay occasionally - new too. The seller probably bought it oversees and is selling it domestically. There's a red and white Whisper up for sale now. Pretty cool, but I'd be hesitant to buy a helmet that expensive without trying on one first.
