Road Biking groups in Bay Area...Any members/suggestions?
I live in the Dublin/Pleasanton area and I am considering joining a riding group. There are quite a few in the area and I'm not sure which is best for me. I was hoping to get some insight on some of the groups. I'd like to join a ride some weekend....do I just show up?

Guest can show up for most of our rides. Most clubs require wearing a helmet. I'm in the Fremont Freewheelers, which is a bit away from you. The Grizzly Peak Cyclists are in Berkeley, and there's the Oakland Yellow Jackets. In Livermore you have the Valley Spokesmen. I'm not familiar with any clubs right in your area.

Bikes: Della Santa, Bike Friday Air Glide, 1974 Schwinn Paramount, Cannondale t2000 Touring, Cannondale r500 Road Silk, LeMond Buenos Aires, Trek 7000 mtn bike, Sears and Roebuck[ made by Puch. I have had up to 36 bikes at one time. I am a sick person.

The Valley Spokesmen in Dublin have something for everybody. Check out their website. I think it is valleyspokesmen.org, if not google Valleyspokesmen bicycle club.
They just put on the Cinderella ride, 2500 women rode, the men did all the work.[Prince Charmings]
They also do multi day rides, Dublin to Yosemite, Dublin to Paso Robles, and a three week ride in Oregon this year.
They have racing teams and are a very active club.
