LSD??!! I thought we were sponsored by Lagunitas not Timothy Leary. Was thinking the same thing though.

BlastRadius 09-23-09 04:21 PM

Think we'd get more takers if we provided "entertainment" on our rides?

Beaker 09-23-09 05:48 PM

Nice. Going geek on you guys for a moment, you do of course realize that the first documented experience of LSD by it's infamous discoverer, Albert Hofmann, was in fact on a bike? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Hofmann

Beer (lagunitas) and Burritos (Chipotle) are enough for me. Honestly I think BF could be great for both Team Integrate and anyone interested in racing. Experienced or not (I just strated racing this year).

Henry from Downtown SJ

Hi im Henry from downtown SJ, I jut got into road biking around a year ago when my dad gave me his old bike (Colnago Victory with campagnolo components). During the summer I used to commute 20 miles a day. Came here to do some research on some good frames and things because i may want to upgrade to a newer nicer frame =D

Kinda back

Sorry I have been out for a bit, due to the Swine Flu. I went to a gaming convention in Seattle and came down with it right after I flew home and picked up my new Roubaix Pro (upgraded from the Roubaix after the Tiagra shifters broke on me). I literally came back from the convention, picked up my bike, went for a ride, was climbing a hill, got that soreness in the back of the throat feeling as I was climbing and by the time I got back home 15 miles or so, I had a full blown fever and all that other nastiness. I have to say not the worst flu I have ever had, but I was in bed for a while and have been staying away from everyone else for longer. Good news is I lost a bit of weight, bad news is I went for a ride last night (12 miles or so) and felt like it was a century. I am looking to start riding again consistently in about a week, for right now I am just toodling every night.

Hi, my name is Patrick, and I missed this thread before my first post in this forum so here's to being proper. I just moved to Davis from the DC area to start my PhD and I'm starting to get swept up by the bike culture here. I've been cycling ever since I learned how to ride as a kid, but I just got my first road bike in July and shipped it out here with me. It's been a blast riding out here so far despite my sluggish pace (14-15). Getting to campus everyday plus trying to maximize the real rides is making me improve and I feel like I'm making real progress in getting my endurance and stamina where it should be.

Welcome Pigou! There sure are tons of bikers around Davis and a great community at that. Check out these guys. They seem well organized with good outreach. Plus, they seem to be intense with all the endurance rides. http://www.davisbikeclub.org/

There are a couple Davis or close by riders on Bike Forums. They can give you some good input of the area for sure. Enjoy your stay at Davis. It may be a bit boring there, so get on your bike! (by the way, I used to go up there every other week, so I know the area well).

Hi all!

My name is Lori, I live in Manteca and have only been riding since May. I originally got a W***mart MTB to start and rode that thing to death (it is literally falling apart) until late August-then I got my first road bike (Felt Z80-it fit, I loved it and it was on sale). After a short period of adjustment and a heartbreaking few weeks of frequent flats (%^*$ goatheads!), I have finally started racking up some miles.
Before fall set in, I rode to work AND on my off days-now I only ride 4 days a week (about 6-20 miles depending). I have met another BF member (tprevost) and we have done a couple of local rides. We did the 25 mile option on the Riverbank Wine and Cheese ride a few weeks ago and I have registered for the Giro d'Vino on November 1st...signed up for the 100km but we'll see how far I get! Its been great meeting someone locally that has experiance...she is always encouraging (and super fun to ride with!!) and I look forward to meeting more of you out there on the road.

BlastRadius 10-24-09 10:54 PM

Welcome Lori. Great to see so many new central valley peeps. You should come try the Halloween Hamilton ride on 10/31 too.
