I guess I should introduce myself and stop lurking around...

My name's Thien, I live in Santa Clara and work in Los Gatos. I'm the guy on a trek you pass going up Mt. Eden, Redwood Gulch, OLH... you get the idea. Got into cycling in late '05 and have been hooked since. I hope to see some of you out there on the roads sometime.

It'll soon be very easy to see each other, once we get these jerseys ordered!

Hi everyone!

My - my name is Mike. I am 38 and I live in Marin County. I ride mostly in the north bay. I have been riding for many years on and off. I attended UC Davis - so riding is somewhat in my veins. In fact, I rode 40 miles with a small group this morning. I ride a 2004 Lemond Zurich with Cane Creek wheel set. I am 220 lbs.

In 2004 I rode in the Marin Double Metrics century on a Specialized Allez from the 1980's - left over from my college days. My wife said that maybe I could ride in the vintage class. We finished the ride and I donated the bike to charity - and purchased the Lemond.

In 2005 my brother and I completed the CA Triple Crown. I rode in 4 doubles Solvang, Davis, part of Mt. Tam (no finish due to mechanical) and the Knoxville.

In 2006 my wife and I started a family (baby girl) - so not much riding except the Marin Century.

These days I have a new ride schedule. I work in the financial district and ride to and from work 3 or 4 days a week. At 35 miles round trip, my commmute has put me around 100 miles a week. I also joined an informal Sunday ride that allows me to get 40 miles some weekends.

Hello everyone,

My name's Ed, I'm 46 years old, and live in Fremont. I've been riding mtn and road bikes since the early 1980's which led to some racing until the 1990's.

Now I enjoy riding with my club FFBC or other local clubs, and participate in a few centuries a year. So far I have done Strawberry Fields and plan on riding Giro di Peninsula, Healdsburg, Marin, and Auburn.

Most of my riding on the weekdays are usually around Fremont, Union City, Newark, and on the Alameda Creek Trail toward Coyote Hills due to work and family obligations. On the weekends, I am usually riding around Palomares and Calaveras, but will venture anywhere there are good roads.

I had to do a google map on Auburn. I always thought Auburn was somewhere in the south, like near Alabama. Oh well, go figure.

Hi NorCal'ers!

My name is Ivan. I'm 29. I live in San Jose (Santa Teresa). No racing for me this season, just getting back in good shape with lots of climbing and intervals. Plus, commuting to work (Mountain View). Unfortunately, due to another training activity - aikido - I do this only couple times a week at most.

Welcome to the group, Ivan. Don't worry, not all of us are racers. As long as you are out there, you are ok in our book.

Ed,

Thanks - not sure. I'm usually on the bridge between 7:30 and 7:45 AM two to three days a week - best schedule is Monday/Wednesday/Friday. I'll keep an eye out.

Cheers,

Mike

Alain here... (can't believe I just found this thread).

I've been a resident of the San Ramon/Danville area since 1978 (San Ramon in '78, Danville since '92) and currently work in Oakland. I Just recently picked up a road bike (it'll be three weeks old this weekend) with hopes of regaining the shape I once possessed as a youth. Been riding around the Crow Canyon Road, Sycamore Valley Blvd, Bollinger Canyon Road, Tri-Valley, and Iron Horse Trail areas after work and early Saturdays (brrrrr.... it's been cold the last two Saturdays) over the past few weeks. Nowhere near the shape I'd like to be in but I'm headed in the right direction. So, if any of you guys in the area have passed a slow guy on a blue Trek the last few weeks, that was probably me! Anyway, I'm amazed at how you guys do more in one trip than what I've been doing in a whole week! I'm just happy that I'm starting to get used to the whole clipless pedals and balancing act thing. That first week was a doozy!!!

Hey Ed - you're in my 'hood! I live in Union City and I head over Palomares &/or Calaveras nearly every weekend. Just got back from a ride up Calaveras, in fact, with a side trip up Welch Creek Rd (my first time up Welch Creek and GOOD LORD it's steep).

My god, are you crazy??? Welch Creek is just nuts. Even the hill crazy nuts that I hang out with don't want to do that. What is it, 90%????
