Hello NorCal! New rider from Sacramento, CA here. Purchased a vintage Nishiki last week and I love it. I've been commuting to work/gym then home on weekdays and this past weekend I went on the American River Trail both Saturday and Sunday. It's very awesome to enjoy the city on a bike, it feels like there's so much to do.

Hey people... I am a SoCal native, been out in NorCal for a few years for school and work. I am about to buy a road bike in the very near future, if you'd like to help me out with that process. I am in my 20s according to my birth certificate, but I have a soul (and maturity) of a kid. I don't consider that immature, I consider that free from societal constrictions and judgment. I love sports and exercising has been a part of my life as far back as I could lift my own head.
I am a die hard of Los Angeles Clippers (NBA), AC Milan (Serie A), Southampton FC (EPL) fan! Favorite movie: Space Jam. Favorite song: "Hallowed be thy name" - Iron Maiden. Favorite TV Show: Boy Meets World. Favorite color: Yellow. Favorite artist: System of a Down. Lucky number: #12. Favorite food: Ice Cream (Thrifty: Black Cherry).
Random facts: I am a tech junkie, from software to hardware - especially mobile devices like cell phones, laptops, tablets!!! I drink lots of tea and fresh juice. I have been cutting my own hair since I was 13. I eat more than anyone I know, and could give olympic athletes (in training) a run for their money. I have family scattered in all parts of the world and I travel constantly (probably my most expensive hobby, next to education ).

Hi folks. I'm a Foster City resident. Started commuting to work on a bike about three months ago, and don't plan to go back! Will get delivery of a Giant Escape tomorrow - have never ridden anything other than mountain bikes before (mostly Walmart/Target bikes at that), so I'm looking forward to that. I wish there was a coop around San Mateo! I really want to learn how to take my bike apart and put it together again, and some guidance would be nice. Apart from San Francisco, does anyone know of a coop closer to Foster City/San Mateo?
Edited to add: the Giant Escape turned into a Specialized Sirrus after longer test rides at the LBS!

Hey gang! I've been off most forums for quite some time so I am re-introducing myself! I was more active when I first moved back home to the Bay Area in 2006 after a 5 year stint in Texas, where I started riding road bikes.
I'm still riding but haven't been as consistent as before. But it's good to see that many familiar names are still on here! Hopefully some still rmemeber me! hehe!
Anyway, I hope to get a little more active here and on the rides because I really need to! TTYL!

I can't believe I've been on these forums for over a year and haven't checked in on this thread yet.
Anyways...Chris...Milpitas (The little blip on the radar between Fremont & San Jose). Most of my riding is done on the road or MUP's.
Also a transplant from the East Coast. NY, Western CT, SE Florida. Came to the Bay Area in '98. Been riding pretty much my whole life, but started to ride on a regular basis only in the past year or so.

I actually have an earlier post in this thread my name is Henry and I used to have a Colnago Victory that ended up getting stolen. Since then I have been building up my stable of bikes. I currently have a 2001 Cannondale R800, a 1991 Specialized Sirrus, Mongoose IBOC pro sx, and a Lemond Tourmalet!
Looking to buy a 700c road wheelset 9 speed compatible if anyone has one for sale.

New to the forums, started riding seriously again 3 months ago for fitness and to lose weight.
I ride a hybrid trek 7500 fx about 100 miles a week. Lots of good info here for someone who's rather starting over.

Sean, Paula, Deb, Gary, and all the new peeps! I haven't checked BF in quite a while. We should have a meet & greet/reunion ride.
I've been on BF since the early aughts. Started mainly with the SS/FG forum (before the regulars' mass exodus in protest of the moderators), then Road, and finally mainly in the NorCal forums. I organized a couple of NorCal BF.net custom jersey buys and am currently just starting to get riding again after a collarbone break.

Hi. Beginner cyclist from San Francisco here. I hope this thread is still active as the last post was 2 months ago. I am pretty new to cycling and looking for a good group to bike with in the SF area.

I don't know any SF groups, but the east bay has Grizzly Peak Cyclists and the Yellowjackets. Have you looked through this thread? Someone may have already mentioned other groups.

Big Al from Paradise here. No, no 72 virgins and I'm pretty sure the town was named by real estate agents hoping to sell something. 51, 225 (after decades of 350+) and new to riding. Well, I rode back in the Nixon days, but not 'tween. Riding my hybrid - slowly up the hills in town (primarily the town MUP) and occasionally down in Chico on the 'flatlands'. About 300 miles so far but looking to make that a monthly goal.
