Nice bike Felicity. Where is there a Jamis dealer around here? Performance used to sell them but not anymore. See you on the road sometime.

I checked out two places that have Jamis: La Dolce Velo 3575 Stevens Creek Blvd #D San Jose, CA 95117
(408) 244-8356 and The Missing Link on Shattuck in Berkeley. I bought it from the former because 1) it is MUCH closer to me 2) the owners (husband and wife) are who you deal with and they are wonderful (very knowledgeable and caring) and I really want to keep the LLBS (little local bike shop) in business.

At the moment I am a 16 - 18 MPH average guy... ;) been a while. Drop me a line sometime.

New here. 30. San Mateo. Been riding my Cannondale R600 for about 4 years now. Still love it but I don't get out enough.

I start geting into Training mode in early Summer (not hardcore or anything) for my annual Malibu Triathlon in September. It's a sprint distance but it does give me a reason to keep in shape.

I've been riding Crystal Springs road to Sawyer Camp. The La Canada Road Sunday Loop. Around Foster city along the bay, and that's about it. Never ridden with a group, but it looks fun.

Hopefully I can hook up with some riders for a good ride, a , and :roflmao:

Pheard 04-17-08 06:28 PM

What about a good :fight: and a nice ??

rpiopio 04-17-08 06:32 PM

Looks like I may get it if I join the NorCal Jersey Group buy. (I do want one though. The old ones look cool).

...and then it starts. Let my work hours burn away before my eyes. Forums are the death of me.

Hi all,

My name's Reid and I live in Santa Clara. Just bought my first road bike, though I've done a few centuries on an old mountain bike with slicks, and have done a double century on a borrowed aluminum double. I used to mountain bike a lot more 10ish years ago, but now actually my mountain bike is too beat to really be any good at that. Maybe when fall comes around it'll be time to invest in a new one.

I'm training for the death ride, though I haven't been working hard enough at it. Did Page Mill a few days after buying the bike (1:08 from Park 'n Ride to Skyline) and the San Jose side of Hamilton a week ago (2:19 from turnoff to observatory steps) Gonna have to keep hitting the hills and hopefully see those times drop.

I'm also looking for a good commute route to work -- from Santa Clara; Lafayette and Tasman area, to Redwood Shores. Looks like I can do Tasman and somehow meander over to Middlefield, or try to piece together a route right up the shore. It seems like there is a pretty severe shortage of good maps online -- they always show planned routes, or fragments, or city-by-city. So I'm always thankful for new resources.

Welcome Reid! :)

I live in Foster City, just the other side of Redwood Shores. I can't be so much help on the Santa Clara side, but can help get you down the peninsula from RWS. As far as I know there is no direct way down the shore (although maybe with your mountain bike.... ;))

Two options: Middlefield (flat, more traffic, not as nice), or Alameda de las Pulgas (rollers, less traffic, much nicer neighborhoods)

From Oracle, take Ralston over 101 to Old County Road. In San Carlos you will have to head from Old County over to Industrial. You can then take that through downtown RWC and get over to Middlefield.
(This gets you to Menlo Park, ignore the route after that.)

From Oracle, you can take Ralston over 101 to Old County Road. Then head south to Holly St. Take Holly over to El Camino, go South a tiny bit until you get to San Carlos Ave. Take a right there, then a left onto Alameda. At one point in RWC you will have to do a quick jog to stay on Alameda, that's the only confusing bit. Near Stanford it gets a little confusing again and you have to get onto Junipero Serra to get to Foothill.
