New to Bay Area
Hey Guys,
Im only going to be in santa clara for the summer (summer internship) and interested in riding with a group. I'm fairly new to this sport, so I probably won't be able to keep up with the more experience riders.
Where do all the riders meet in this region? I went up Steven's creek area and that was a blast. I saw tons of riders there. I'd love to ride with a group.
Also, are there any decent clubs to join around here? I rode with ACTC once, but had to back out when my chain broke.

There are two popular clubs in the area ... ACTC, and Western Wheelers. Western Wheelers usually start in Palo Alto, but they go all over the place, with varying levels.
I haven't come up with the route yet, but I'm planning a Recovery Sunday ride. Feel free to join us. Keep you eyes peeled to this forum when I have it all figured out.

I don't know if it's a club ride going through the area, or a ride that's starts and ends at Shaw's, but on some Saturdays I see a group coming by on Newhall from the west. Last Saturday the group included hybrids.
Shaw's is in Normandy Center on the northeast corner of Newhall and Washington/Bascom. I think you go into the parking lot from Newhall, and enter Shaw's from the parking lot side.

I've found the people here to be great (forums, and the Bay Area), and you'll be having a good time. If you'd like to ride, or even get drink (be nice to meet more people my age) sometime, let me know. I'm living just on the fringe of downtown San Jose, near Willow Glen.
