Talk about melting, in preparation for the 100k, during lunchtime I went up Calaveras Rd. yesterday with a few guys at work. Got as far as the junction of Calaveras and Weller Rd. I was spent. The descent was incredible.

Does the ride REALLY go up 84? Without traffic control, that sounds like 4 miles of no fun, even at 8:00 AM on Saturday.

I think going up Kings Mountain would be been much smarter. Some people have suggested Old La Honda Road, but I think pushing 1000 people up a 1.5 lane road is much more dangerous than 84.

Probably the residents along OLH complained would be my guess as to why it isn't on the route.

I'm going to try to do this ride along with my sisters. Not sure if the timing is going to work out though. I should know by the end of the week.

Outback Alert!!!

There is a new Outback Steakhouse at the Hillsdale Mall, about .7 miles from Bay Meadows, the starting point for Giro de Peninsula.

Just thought some people here would want to know...

Just look for the really tall skinny guy, as opposed to me, the really tall chunky guy.
