NorCal BF Labor Day Ride

Who's going to be in town? I'm going to put this out there, just to see what kind of interest we have in a Labor Day ride. The last 4th of July ride we had was pretty nice. It went up Hwy 9 to Skyline, then over to Page Mill, then back ... nice 35 miler, and got back just in time to spend the rest of the day with our families.

As an added bonus, taxi777 is volunteering to SAG for us. Now how could you pass that one up? He'll also be the roving photographer ... thanks a lot taxi777.

Starting Location: Parking Lot by Chain Reaction Bike Shop, corner of Homestead and Foothill Expy in Los Altos

If I'm around (likely) I'd be up for the 9>Skyline>Page Mill run.

sj_roadie 08-15-07 08:57 AM

I'm going to be up near napa that day camping.. planning to bring my bike, gotta start researching routes though.

msincredible 08-15-07 09:26 AM

I'm up for this, sounds fun.

jinws 08-15-07 09:55 AM

sign me up.

spingineer 08-15-07 10:00 AM

Awesome ... here's the route.

http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...Kings-Mtn-Loop

Last time we did this, we didn't go all the way. We hung a right on Page Mill instead of going all the way to Kings Mountain. We can play it by ear again. By then, everyone who put in orders for the first wave of jerseys should have them. Let's wear them on the ride, and show them who we are.

jinws 08-15-07 10:06 AM

aww...now why does everyone have to make me feel bad about not ordering that jersey.

Bostic 08-15-07 10:12 AM

I should be around for this. I rode with T4MV on Saturday on about the same route. There is no way I would have been able to hack that other climb from 35 to the right turn on Kings in the heat of that July 4 day.

BlastRadius 08-15-07 11:24 AM

Now this ride is on Labor Day, Monday 9/3 correct?

Pheard 08-15-07 12:35 PM

I'm going to try.

Just wondering. Is there a no drop policy on your rides? I'm fat, slow, and I smell. Just an FYI.

..because you didn't order one.

uspspro 08-15-07 01:31 PM

I would have been down for this to be my first big ride after my crash, but I will be out of town.

Always something.... sigh.

well, I don't like yellow and blue, what can I say? Would you order a shirt you're not going to wear?

I've never ridden down there. Can you give a total mileage and an elevation profile for the route you posted?

Would it change your mind if I said it looked yellow and black? It'd be great if you were a Pirates fan..:D

No worries, jinws, I don't have one either. We'll just be the lantern rouge, picking up Jon's underwear as he discards them along the ride...

In bikely, you can click on "Show", then "Elevation Profile" to see it. Here's a screenshot.

So it looks like about 55 miles, 5600 feet climbing.

I'm sure it will be no-drop.

The blue is so dark it does look kinda black unless the light hits it just right.
BTW, the 2nd reorder is still open in case you change your mind.

Thanks I didn't see that feature. I'm not sure about my schedule (may have to work that day), so put me down as a maybe. But remember I'm sloooow, anyone else competing with me for last in line?

Judging by some of the stuff I've seen Jon wearing in pictures here, I doubt if there is such a thing as a shirt he wouldn't wear...

mtnwalker 08-15-07 04:26 PM

Hey guys. I may be down for this ride. Count me in as a maybe. This will be my first group ride ever.

Yes, me. I may be able to do distance, but I am not a speed demon, especially if it's going up a hill.

lol...now I'm really glad I have latex gloves in my pack. but seriously though, if I had anything that goes with yellow, I would have ordered. It looks great. If you guys ever design something in red and black, I'm all over it.

I bet I'm fatter than you ... just don't make this into a fat thread. Anyways, we'll be outdoors, so odor won't matter. It is a no drop ride, which will mean we will be regrouping at the top of the climb.

Fat threads are fun. :p

I'll be there. Unless I end up having a class that day.

rusty993 08-15-07 08:32 PM

I rode the 4th of July as my first BF group ride, I am definately signing up for this one!

No need to pic up my underbridges. They are edible, which also means biodegradable.

qpliu 08-15-07 11:46 PM

I don't think I'll have the jersey by then, but I'll plan to join the ride either somewhere on Hwy 9 or Pierce, depending on how early you start. I'll probably head down 84 to the coast just like I did on the 4th.

spingineer 08-16-07 07:00 AM

I forgot to tell you the start time and location. It will be just like before ... start time at 9 am, and leaves from the parking lot by Chain Reaction, corner of Homestead and Foothill Expressway. If you get there early, there's also a Peet's Coffee there too.

the_ali 08-17-07 11:01 AM

Skyline ride sounds aweome!
