My first post here, and my first bike above. It's an 08 Cannondale Synapse SL3 Compact. I was going to get a Synapse 5 but found that bike on craigslist from a shop in Redwood City (60 mile drive!!) for $1100 off. The same price as the 5 at mikes bikes. Without the lights, bag, bottle or compy it weighed in at 17 lbs stock, size 56.

^^^ is your inseam 38-40"? Looking at your bikes I would guess you're between 6'8"-6'10". Must be hard to get a bike to fit well...

Here's my Patrick Nagel bike. A neighbor was cleaning out his garage and gave it to me a few weeks ago. I was going to convert it to a (freewheel) single speed but when i cut off the old black bar tape, I saw the original hot pink tape underneath it... and a plan was born. I would just bring it back as close to its original rigging as possible. New chain, new brake cables and housing, new pink bar tape and matching water bottle cage set me back about $30 and some Performance points. I had to do some hack work on the front brake which had lost the original QR mechanism somewhere along the way; fortunately I had some Dia Compe Gran Compe 500 brakes from another rescue project -- they are copies of these Ultegra 600 and the mechanism was compatible, so that was lucky. I'm not an instant Biopace convert, but it's good fun to tool around the neighborhood on, we'll see how it does on the commute tomorrow. More at the flickr link.

That's a pretty bike!
The angle of the seat concerns me, though.
Looking forward to your ride report.

OK I fixed the seat and rode it 20 miles to work this morning. It's definitely too small for me but other than that, a sweet solid ride. The only thing I noticed about the Biopace chainring is that it tends to make me wobble my hips more than I usually do.
I do have to move those levers down, rerun brake cable housing and re-tape the bars though. They are up too high to brake from the drops easily. *sigh* Maybe next weekend...

My workhorse: 2006 Marin Muirwoods
I'll also be getting a road bike sometime in the future. However, being the poor college student that I am, it may not be for a while.

Thanks, cdejesus and beaker,
I still haven't decided whether to make it a fixed gear or not.
That would mean relieving the IRO of its wheelset.
And it would make the bike less friendly for hauling loads up hills
(once I get the racks mounted on it).
