NorCal jersey sightings thread

This is the official 'sightings' thread for those aliens that wear NorCal jerseys around on their dual UROs. (unidentified rolling objects)

My first sighting today, outside the normal Norcal group rides was in Tiburon, where I was with my club, chillin in front of the ferry port. It was noon, Sunday, and a lot of riders were there. I didn't have my camera, or I would have taken a picture of the URO who was making his way out of the restaurant and back on the road.

Those jerseys are sick!! (thanks Henry!)

I say us bold ones doing the sighting just walk up to the person, give 'em the knowing nod, a wink and then mumble your username.

I saw a couple of guys in bf jerseys in Woodside today, at the corner of Woodside Rd and Mtn Home/Canada Rd. They were crossing Woodside to get to Canada, & I was stopped at that intersection waiting to make a left to go to Roberts Market.
I yelled out "Hey Bikeforums!"

They probably thought I was nutz.

Yes indeedy! That's OK, you needed to be paying attention at that intersection.

The jerseys looked good.

I hate animated giffs. But this one made me laugh out loud. I had to carry the laptop over to my wife and show her. She cracked up too. Well done!

I spotted a Nor Cal jersey rider Sunday around 10:20 or so going up El Monte at 280 in Los Altos. I hope to get a jersey if there is another order.

I know what you mean cc. I think the small, simple ones like this aren't too annoying, when they're used sparingly. Glad you got a chuckle!

and, adroitly hopping back on topic:
jsmil, from the timing perhaps you saw either AzureDrpTp or Gee3. Those lads get around.

Hey Jo! Yup, I was riding with Thien (AzurDrpTp), his girl and Andy (NeCrO632). Sorry we didn't hear ya. I was just worried about not getting hit by the cars in that intersection. I had never ridden in that area so it was pretty cool coming up from Los Altos to Crystal Springs and back.

The day before Alan (sesamecrunch) and Doug (genejockey) had guided Andy and I around the Half Moon Bay area. But only Alan had the NorCal jersey on. Another cool ride but the hills were a bit tougher for my level. hehe!

I had my first Norcal jersey sighting today at 6:45pm in Danville. The BF'er was heading southbound along the Iron Horse Trail crossing Sycamore Valley Road near the 680 Northbound onramp. It looked like gpelpel (George), who I met at the 8/25 Mt. Diablo Norcal BF Ride, but I'm not certain since it was getting dim and he was already across the street by the time I got to that intersection. He was riding a red bike. I wanted to say Hi, and he did take a glance at me across the street as if to say, "Why are you staring at me?!?", but I didn't want to yell over the noise of the traffic and look like a lunatic trying to wave him down.

I was riding with my wife and son and we turned onto the trail behind him. There was no way I was going to catch him without deserting the family. That just would just be wrong... right? Anyway, George, if that was you, sorry for not saying Hi. By the way, the jersey looked way cool!

I think that was me - I came down off of Mt. Diablo, headed into Danville on Diablo Rd then decided to cut my ride short and headed down the trail. Did your son have a yellow windbreaker on? I remember thinking how nice it would be if I could get my kids to enjoy riding with me....

JB

PS - good to see you back out on the road!

Hi JB,
My son was wearing a black/red jacket and was riding on his single speed bmx bike. That must've been my wife you were looking at as she was the one wearing the bright yellow windbreaker and riding a hybrid while I was wearing a blue windbreaker on my mtn bike. And, yes, it does feel good to ride... thanks! I've been riding my mtn bike more frequently since the upright position is a little easier on the back. It makes more sense that it was you as I think gpelpel lives in Lafayette. Did the brief rain showers take you by surprise? We almost cut our ride short because of it. Glad we didn't as it turned out to be a fun night ride.

I got caught by it a little near the top of Diablo. Not enough to ruin the ride, but it did catch me by surprise since the sky was still mostly clear at that point. I think the temperature dropped by about 10 degrees in 10 minutes as the wind picked up. I cut my ride short because it was getting dark earlier than I expected once the clouds rolled in.

I remember seeing a family riding together, and one was wearing the bright yellow. I actually thought you were some other friends, which is why I gave you a second look before heading down the trail towards San Ramon.

Hi Alain,
No, that wasn't me. I came back from France Wednesday morning and haven't touched the bike yet.
I sometimes ride in the area though but usually on Danville Blvd. as I tend to be annoyed by all the stops and go on the Iron Trail.
Good to hear that you are back riding.
Georges

+1 I only ventured on the trail last night because it is the fastest way home, and as Alain mentioned, there was already some mild drizzly rain (and it looked like it might get a lot worse). From Sycamore Valley down through San Ramon is actually one of the better stretches of the trail - longer distances between cross streets, and not as many other people.

I'm not sure if it was a NorCal jersey, but the colors were right, and what I could briefly see of it seemed to match: solo rider descending Bonny Doon Rd around noon today.

Saw 2 BF jerseys riding together on Dublin Canyon Rd. I was in the pumpkin patch with my family. Looked like a team riding together, very cool!

Saw a solo BF jersey going down Paradise Loop today heading down to Tiburon... I yelled out NorCal. I was with two others riding up the Loop but I wasn't in the BF jersey.

Anyone, anyone, Bueller....???
