Went out for a little ride today and who do I see?

We had a TnT training ride today, and went up to the Mt. Diablo junction from the North Gate, and who do we see? Alainp and his son, enjoying some PBJ's while gathering themselves for the assault on the summit. Our route didn't include the summit (and a coach was cracking the whip) so we didn't really have a chance to talk.

Later in the ride, near the intersection of Highland and Collier Canyon there's some tall guy with a beard taking pics - looks a lot like Pete (Taxi777), but what's he doing out this way? Sure enough, it was Pete who had just come off of Morgan Territory. He rode with us for a while and pulled us through the headwinds back up Highland and Tassajara. Nice. He needed to grab some food, so he pulled off at Blackhawk Plaza while we continued on Blackhawk and Diablo Blvd to the end of our ride.

Not quite as difficult as Ron's birthday ride, but we did 56 miles with 3,450 feet of climbing. And for the record, Pete was on his way to the Mt. D. summit.

My ride was difficult ...

Hey John! That was pretty nice running into you. Too bad we didn't run into Pete like you did. At the pace we kept anyone could have caught up.

I still think that is so awesome that your son is able to ride the mountain! Pete was on his way up when we split, but he was stopping for a sandwich first. My guess is he would have been hitting South Gate around 2:30 or so on his way up.

Here he is cresting the Summit. Sorry we missed you Pete. At the bottom of the hill, Nicolas was feeling pretty good still so we decided to stretch out our ride a bit and took the route through the hole in the wall. Otherwise, we would have crossed paths along Blackhawk Road.

That's great - especially with that other rider in the back walking up the wall.

Bummer! that would have made my day seeing you guys too. I'm really toasted from today, I'll try to give the lowdown but I keep falling asleep at the wheel here.

You probably saw me coming down too - there were tons of T in T people on North Gate as we descended about 10:30. A big group and a bunch of stragglers.

Summit Road was notably colder and breezier but still nice.

Yup, that was us. I was mostly hanging on to the tail end of the big group. It's amazing how out of shape you can get by not riding enough for a couple of months!
